Shown with blank values in the Choice drop down Power Apps while Filtering items

My sharepoint list contain below columns

  1. Title
  2. Plan
  3. Status ( Child list with Choice Columns
  4. Travaler ( Office365 Users with Choice columns )
  5. Manger  ( Office365 Users with Choice columns )

Am designing the Power apps Edit form this list

I have trying To filter the Traveler and Manager list in Dropdown column based on logged in user's email.

Below is my filter on lookup-choice column;

Filter(Choices('Travel Plan’. Manager), StartsWith(Email, User().Email))

Filter(Choices('Travel Plan’. Manager), Email, User().Email)

If Murali is logged in user, then it should return choices only my email id. But,

It is coming up with blank values in the Choice dropdown.

I could not find solutions yet, If someone have any workaround, suggesions

Please let me know

Note :  But i have tried same in status dropdwon, which seems working

Filter(Choices(Bills.Status),Value in ("Pending"))

Re: Shown with blank values in the Choice drop down Power Apps while Filtering items

Hi @Anonymous,

Sorry but I cannot fully understand what you are trying to achieve. Is Status/Travaler/Manager all Choice columns in SharePoint? Since I saw you said that Status is a child list? And Travaler/Manager containOffice365 Users. But there are no such column types for SharePoint. There are either Choice or Person and Group or Lookup column types. There is no such type called Lookup-choice. Please explain the exact column types of these 3 fields.

I assume that both Traveler and Manager columns are Person and Group column, and you are trying to make the default values in these 2 data cards to the current user and user's manager. If this is the situation, you can get the data card to show current user using below formula in the Default property of the Traveler DataCard (not the dropdown) control to:

{ DisplayName:User().FullName,
  Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(User().Email),
  Department:"",
  Email:User().Email,
  JobTitle:"",
  Picture:""}

For getting user's manager to SharePoint person and group column, since this need to use Office365 Users connector, you need to first add the Office365 Users connection as data source in this app. If you are talking about the custom Form in SharePoint list site, then set the OnEdit property of SharePointIntegration to:

Set(gvCurrentManager, Office365Users.ManagerV2(gvCurrentUser.userPrincipalName))

Then set the Default property of the Manager DataCard to:

{DisplayName: gvCurrentManager.displayName,
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & gvCurrentManager.userPrincipalName
Department:"",
Email:User().Email,
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""}

Re: Shown with blank values in the Choice drop down Power Apps while Filtering items

Thank you very for your reply.  now i have understand how to add default values in datacard.

But,  There is no hierarchy maintained in organization level for use below logic. I want filter the datacard items only based on login user.

Set(gvCurrentManager, Office365Users.ManagerV2(gvCurrentUser.userPrincipalName))

My Busisness sceneries,

In sharepoint , "Travaller" and "Manager" Field data type is "Person or Group"

Traveller Drop down should show only one list as current user,

So i am trying to filter items from Datacard

items  = Choices('Travel Plan'.Traveler)

DisplayField = ["DisplayName","Email"]

SearchFields = ["DisplayName"]

isSearchable = true

selectmultiple = false

Default = {DisplayName: gvCurrentManager.displayName, Email:User().Email}

Manager Drop down should should all the Office 365 user other than Current User

items  = Choices('Travel Plan'.Manager)

DisplayField = ["DisplayName","Email"]

SearchFields = ["DisplayName"]

isSearchable = true

selectmultiple = false

Default = {DisplayName: gvCurrentManager.displayName, Email:User().Email}

I have below syntax , which is working for choice datacard. not working for  Person or Group datacard.

Filter(Choices('Travel Plan’. Manager), Email, User().Email)

i could not find solutions yet, If someone have any workaround, suggesions

Please let me know

Thanks for support
