Simple IF Statement that I can't figure out.

This seems so simple and everything seems right but for some reason powerapps won't accept it. I'm sure I'm making some rookie mistake as I'm really new to powerapps. I'm trying to make an icon visible based on a condition. The icon in question is a folder that i want displayed if the item in the table is a folder by looking at the "IsFolder" column. The data source I'm using is a collection that is grabbed from a sharepoint library. Here is the formula I'm using in the visible property box.

If(maintinfo.IsFolder=true,true,false)

I also plan on doing the same thing for other icons...such as if the item is a document, spreadsheet etc. 

Would I check the content type for doing this?

Hey @ldrewes, try this:

If(
    ThisItem.IsFolder = true,
    true,
    false
)

Of course, you could just shorten it to this:

ThisItem.IsFolder

The issue you are probably getting is that maintinfo.IsFolder is referring to the whole column of values, not a specific one. Using ThisItem in a gallery (which I assume you are using) will let it know to look at the IsFolder value for the specific row of data. 

For identifying the type of file, I actually made a sample app that has a possible solution for this. Basically, using the file name, I checked the file extension and display an SVG graphic based on that. Here is a link to that sample app from the Community App Samples section of these forums. The section under the File Viewer heading is what I am talking about. It uses a nested gallery to sort by the folder name and, when the user selects a folder name, reveals the files within that folder. Here is a quick screen cap of what that looks like for reference.

It's not a perfect system as you have to control for any file extension that might appear. I tried to handle the majority of the MS ones in my example app. Hopefully, that is a decent starting point.

Do you want to filter your files in sharepoint documents based on folder or file type?

If you want to filter whether it is a folder, you could use IsFolder field to justify.

If you want to filter based on file type, you could use 'Link to item' to justify.

The data in 'Link to item' could show you what the file type is.

For example: 

doc file's link is like this: 

https://.....sharepoint.com/:w:/r/sites/test315/_layouts/15/Doc.aspx.....

pdf file's link is like this:

https://.....sharepoint.com/sites/test315/aaa/......pdf

I've made a similar test for your reference:

insert a radio for you choosing folder or file type

set the radio's Items:

["folder","doc","xlsx","image","pdf"]

insert a gallery to display the filtered file

set the gallery's Items:

Filter(aaa,
           If(
               IsBlank(Radio1.Selected.Value),true,
               Radio1.Selected.Value="folder",IsFolder=true,
               Radio1.Selected.Value="xlsx","xlsx" in 'Link to item',
               Radio1.Selected.Value="doc","doc" in 'Link to item',
               Radio1.Selected.Value="image","jpg" in 'Link to item'||"png" in 'Link to item',
               Radio1.Selected.Value="pdf","pdf" in 'Link to item'
              )
        )

Then if you choose any item in the radio, the gallery will only display the file that their file type is what you select.

Thanks! I will check out the sample app you mentioned. What you are saying makes sense. I will give it all a try today. 

My end game was to try to get it to work like a file explorer for a particular sharepoint library without the users having to navigate out of power apps to do so. I wasn't sure that was possible. Looks like your sample app you linked to might be what I'm looking for. Again, I'll check all this out and let you know.

@ldrewes, my sample app is more of a visualization tool than a file explorer. The real focus of that sample app is to add a pseudo app store in Power Apps and that specific part is an example file viewer with icons to help the user know what app they need. However, I am working on a file explorer myself and will release it in the sample apps when I finish (though other work has taken priority right now so it may be a few weeks).

One thing to know is that the only current way to get file explorer functionality with documents in SharePoint is to use Power Automate (previously known as Flow) to add/delete files, etc. It is possible but not a straightforward process. Shane Young's YouTube channel has some videos that could be helpful. And as I mentioned, when I finish my file explorer, I'll post it and try to remember to come back to this thread and post a link.

I'm not looking for full file explorer functionality. I don't need to delete, copy, move, or add any files. Simply read/open whats there. Your sample app does this mostly well. The only thing is that it doesn't keep the hierarchy intact.(Am I saying that right?) It lists ALL the folders on the Page even if those folders are inside other ones....instead of navigating into one folder to see the folder contents of that one. I'm not even sure that would be possible......would you need as many sub galleries as you have folder levels?? That could potentially be a ton and probably not worth it. Anyway, Thank you for your help! It has gotten me through quite a bit. 
(I've learned a lot from those Shane Young videos as well. Fantastic videos!)

@ldrewes You would indeed need as many layers as you have nested folders. That is one reason I am making the file explorer that I am (and why my sample is a flat structure).

One alternative I tried was to use the folder path field to filter the top layer and then by selecting a folder filtering by the next layer, etc. but I couldn't get the delegation sorted out. That led me to this post, in which a Flow was used to create a text version of the folder path, which is filterable and delegable. It might be useful for your purposes as well.
