Solution error: Dataverse Import failed due to missing dependencies

Hi everyone,

I received the following error when exporting a solution into Power Apps: "Import failed due to missing dependencies for [YOUR APP NAME]

I trawled through the forums trying out different solutions, but none worked for me. The only solution which worked was to export the solution and then edit the solution.xml and the customizations.xml from the solution zip file. However, it is not practical to do this every time I need to export the solution from the Development environment across to the Test and Production environments. The following solution ultimately worked for me in case anyone else experiences this:

  1. In your source environment and target environment, select Switch to Classic to open new tabs in Dynamics

  2. In the Dynamics window for your source environment, select your Solution by clicking the hyperlink under Display Name. This will open a new window

  3. Here you will find all of the objects associated to your Solution. Note that “entities” is the old name for tables in Dataverse/CDS

  4. Select Add Existing and then select Entity to add any missing tables if applicable
  5. Click Save or Save and Close
  6. Click Export

  7. Publish Customizations as you normally should do in the Power Apps interface

  8. Add any missing components if applicable

  9. Skip this section unless applicable

  10. Step through the Export steps, and click Managed for Package type, and then finally click Export to your local drive

  11. Navigate to the Dynamics window for your target environment, click Import and select your file
  12. Click Next on this window

  13. You may receive a notification to choose Update or Upgrade an existing solution which exists in your target environment. Choose Update as you would do when importing a Solution through the regular Power Apps interface
  14. Once the import is complete, you can confirm the Solution has successfully imported by checking back into the Power Apps interface

  15. Going forward you can now Import the solution into the target environment using Power Apps without issue
