Some types are incompatible for comparison. These types cannot be compared. Table, Text

Hi All,

I am despairing of a probably simple Task... But not solvable for me at the moment.

I filter my gallery through various Dropdowns.

When I try to filter the gallery with the filter through the column "Trainer", I get the following error message: Some types are incompatible for comparison. These types cannot be compared. Table, Text
All other filters work perfectly.

SortByColumns(

            'Kurs ID';

        );

        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' <= DatePickerEnddatum.SelectedDate;
        DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Veranstaltungsort.Value = DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value;
        DropdownTraining.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Training.Value = DropdownTraining.Selected.Value;

    "Anfangszeit";
    If(
        SortDescending13;

I have the following conditions:

Sharepoint List with column Trainer (People picker)

Sharepoint_1.png

Sharepoint_2.png

As Shane Young shows in his video (PowerApps filter gallery by dropdown - YouTube), I have created these collections.

ClearCollect(
    ColTrainingsstandort;
    {Value: "Alle"}
);;
Collect(
    ColTrainingsstandort;
    Choices('07_Trainingsbedarf'.Veranstaltungsort)
);;
ClearCollect(
    ColTraining;
    {Value: "Alle"}
);;
Collect(
    ColTraining;
    Choices('07_Trainingsbedarf'.Training)
);;
ClearCollect(
    ColVeranstaltungstyp;
    {Value: "Alle"}
);;
Collect(
    ColVeranstaltungstyp;
    Choices('07_Trainingsbedarf'.Veranstaltungstyp)
);;
ClearCollect(
    ColStatus;
    {Value: "Alle"}
);;
Collect(
    ColStatus;
    Choices('07_Trainingsbedarf'.Status)
);;
ClearCollect(
    ColTrainer;
    {Value: "Alle"}
);;
Collect(
    ColTrainer;
    AddColumns(
        '07_Trainingsbedarf';
        "Value";
        Concat(
            Trainer;
            DisplayName;
            " & "
        )
    )
)

The Items property of my dropdown is

Sort(Distinct(ColTrainer;Value);Result)

I hope I have not forgotten to describe anything that would be important for finding a solution.

I would be happy to receive any tips or solutions.

Thanks in Advance

Michel

@Alex_10 ,

thank you for the explanation.

That here with multiple trainers only the first one is displayed and found, that became clear to me in the course of our conversation. What the formula also clearly expresses with "First".

First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result

However, it is still not clear to me why the filter by status only does not work when I have the filter with the trainers in my formula.

Perhaps I could not describe it correctly only because of the language barrier.

But with my original problem you helped me competently and quickly. Many thanks for this.

Regards

Michel

Hi @Mauldäschle ,
I tried to recreate the same scenario however it didn't give me any error.
Ename is a people picker and dd_Trainer is a dropdown.

Abhilash_Swain_1-1641312345430.png

Abhilash_Swain_0-1641312214825.png

Please try to remove other filters and check if you are still getting the error with only the trainer column filter or not.

Please give me a Thumbs up if I answered your question and mark it as a solution to help others.
Thanks
Abhi

@Mauldäschle

that happens because your people SP column allows multiple selections. it always returns a table of people, even if there is only one.

If in your case that column has always only 1 person:

DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result = "Alle" Or First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result

Hi @Alex_10,

except that I get a delegation notice, it works fine. However, that shouldn't be the problem. Thanks a lot...

What curiously no longer works is the "Status" filter.

Status.png

de77fc61-45db-4acd-9e08-9c6516cb991b.png

As soon as I select "Beantragt" (Requested), for example, I no longer get anything displayed.

If I comment out the entry,

//DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result = "Alle" Or First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result

the filter works without problems.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out what the problem is.

Thanks

Michel

@Mauldäschle

delegation by default affects on lists if those lists have > 500 records.

If you have <500 records on your  '07_Trainingsbedarf' list, that is not a problem.

If you have > 500, the formula below may not work.

you may try to test

SortByColumns(

    Filter('07_Trainingsbedarf';
        StartsWith( 'Kurs ID'; TextInput1_1.Text );
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' >= DatePickerAnfangsdatum.SelectedDate;
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' <= DatePickerEnddatum.SelectedDate;
        If(DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Veranstaltungsort.Value = DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value);
        If(DropdownTraining.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Training.Value = DropdownTraining.Selected.Value);
        If(DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Veranstaltungstyp.Value = DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value);
        If(DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value <> "CP & DV", Teilnehmergruppe.Value = DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value);
        If(DropdownStatus.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Status.Value = DropdownStatus.Selected.Value);
        If(DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result <> "Alle", First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result)
    );

    "Anfangszeit";
    If(SortDescending13; Descending; Ascending )
)

Hi @Alex_10 ,

Thanks again for your great support.

I have now tested it again. Except for a delegation error, I don't get any errors.

2022-01-05 10_39_56-Window.png

However, also no entries in my gallery, although no filters were selected.

2022-01-05 10_43_20-Window.png

Only when I comment out all IF statements, the "TextInput1_1.Text" and the date filter work.

I am completely confused...🙄

can you test:

SortByColumns(

    Filter('07_Trainingsbedarf';
        StartsWith( 'Kurs ID'; TextInput1_1.Text );
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' >= DatePickerAnfangsdatum.SelectedDate;
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' <= DatePickerEnddatum.SelectedDate;
        If(DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Veranstaltungsort.Value = DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value, true);
        If(DropdownTraining.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Training.Value = DropdownTraining.Selected.Value, true);
        If(DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Veranstaltungstyp.Value = DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value, true);
        If(DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value <> "CP & DV", Teilnehmergruppe.Value = DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value, true);
        If(DropdownStatus.Selected.Value <> "Alle", Status.Value = DropdownStatus.Selected.Value, true);
        If(DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result <> "Alle", First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result, true)
    );

    "Anfangszeit";
    If(SortDescending13; Descending; Ascending )
)

Hi @Alex_10 ,

tested.
In my gallery entries are visible again, but not all as desired.

I will summarize the current situation once again.
Even with the current formula, the "Status" filter only shows something in the gallery if the selection is set to "All" or "Training created". The other two choices show an empty gallery. The filter "Trainer" works.

If I take this formula,

SortByColumns(
    Filter(
        '07_Trainingsbedarf';
        StartsWith(
            'Kurs ID';
            TextInput1_1.Text
        );
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' >= DatePickerAnfangsdatum.SelectedDate;
        'Anfangszeit 1. Tag' <= DatePickerEnddatum.SelectedDate;
        DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Veranstaltungsort.Value = DropdownTrainingsstandort.Selected.Value;
        DropdownTraining.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Training.Value = DropdownTraining.Selected.Value;
        DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Veranstaltungstyp.Value = DropdownVeranstaltungstyp.Selected.Value;
        DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value = "CP & DV" Or Teilnehmergruppe.Value = DropdownTeilnehmergruppe.Selected.Value;
        DropdownStatus.Selected.Value = "Alle" Or Status.Value = DropdownStatus.Selected.Value
        //DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result = "Alle" Or First(Trainer).DisplayName = DropdownTrainer.Selected.Result
    );
    "Anfangszeit";
    If(
        SortDescending13;
        Descending;
        Ascending
    )
)

and comment out the "Trainer" filter, all the selections work for the "Status" filter.

In the sharepoint list the possibility of multiple selection is needed for the column "Trainer", because sometimes more than one person is selected.

This is also the only difference between e.g. the "Trainer" column and the "Status" column.

@Mauldäschle

in my very first post i mentioned that formula works if only 1 person is in Trainer column.

if your Trainer has more than 1 person, the current formula will never work properly.

@Alex_10 ,

however, my gallery also shows entries with multiple trainers. Only the "Status" filter does not work.

This is what I can not understand.

All other filters work as well. Only the stupid status filter...😩
