Start PowerApps in browser minimized

We have a powerapp application running on laptops and was wondering if we can make the browser runs minimized every time we launch the app?

All we need is an individual to run a flow.
Ultimately, it would be perfect to have the user run the flow but we dont want to share the flow with 300 users as they will be owners of the flow, and this will involve us maintaining user accesses etc.

So we created a PowerApp canvas (1 screen) and each time the screen loads on the user's computer, it will trigger an instant flow and do its job.

Not the best solution but a workaround that's working for us.

To make it less invasive, we wanted to have the app launch in the browser in minimize mode. How can we do that?

Thanks a lot

I'm assuming you want this to work from the user just clicking on a hyperlink? I don't think it is possible. You could do something with javascript, probably. Pop Under ads sounds similar to what you're asking for.

You could also create a script using whatever method you prefer that would launch the link in a minimized window. In theory, you could have the script even close the window after some amount of time has passed since I think there might not be a permissions dialog box when opening an app that doesn't use any connectors. However, no you have the problem of distributing the script to your users, etc. I don't think it would be worth it.

I actually do this for some of my flows; I just let the user see a success screen and then they close the app.

Hey @Scott_Parker thanks for your input. In fact, I tried launching the app using a batch file. It worked but the /min command does not work for the browsers.

I currently have the same idea implemented (let user see progress and close the page themselves) but if I use the function within powerApps Exit(), it opens the power platform page instead which we do not want. Exit means close current tab. So for now I think I will leave as is until I am able to find an alternative. Or make use of the javascript below which in theory should work.

 window.opener = null;

As for the permissions dialog box, I was able to bypass this by making use of some powershell commands and it is working fine so far in the dev env.

@StephanJ Very cool, by PowerShell commands you mean like Set-AdminPowerAppApisToBypassConsent? As a non-admin I'm jealous.

If you're considering scripting, what about an HTTP post as the flow trigger and skip the Power App entirely?

Yes the command is Set-AdminPowerAppApisToBypassConsent -EnvironmentName [Guid] -AppName [Guid]
and yes you need local admin rights to do this which fortunately I have :) least something positive

What do you mean by HTTP post?
If I use flow only I will have to share the flow with all the users and let them be co-owners which then means they can edit the flow. Also automated and scheduled flows need to be run by owners while instant will be user's based. That's why we created a single screen canvas calling multiple instant flows. We also dont want to have the maintenance burden to manage 300 flows or more if users are added. By having a PowerApp canvas, all we need is to add "Everyone" in the share option and simply send the link to a leader and they can distribute indefinitely to users. When a particular user will run the app, it will trigger the flow.

I meant this trigger:

But, if you have that many users triggering that many flows, I agree that it makes sense to take advantage of the fact that Instant flows always run the in the context of the user who invokes the flow and you have the option to use the person running the flow's connections or the owner's connections.
