Strategy for adding notes to EACH form field

I'm struggling with finding a method for the following scenario:

  • Form with 80 fields
  • Users need the ability to add a note to any of the fields
  • Notes are specific to the field and must be referenced somehow

Some things I've tried are:

  • "+Note" icon added to each field
  • User clicks, textbox popup appears
  • Notes are saved to a collection with "Field Name" and "Notes" columns

But I don't know how to put all these notes together into one cohesive piece. Any other ideas of how I could tackle this?

Thank you for your time

Good morning,

You could save the notes in the same record/table the user is currently working on but you don't display the notes in their own field, you do as you've already tried with an icon that opens a small text editor.

Another possibility is to have another table that saves just each note. That table ought to have at least an id linking the child record to the parent table, a column identifier and the note itself. It's probably best to save it temporarily in a collection, since if you're creating a new record, there is no parent Id to link the child records to; you save the notes with a call to patch after the main record has been saved.

Good luck! Get back to me if I wasn't very clear.
