Unable to Upload Attachment/'Save Changes' to the Form When Modifying

Hello,

I have a canvas app which is linked to SharePoint List. The issue is, if i am creating a new Item and attaching any file to it then the file is getting attached. But if i open an existing item and trying to attach any file then it is not showing (attaching). I checked that any changes are also not getting saved.

The submit button is having the below code. Can anyone please help me that where i am going wrong?

UpdateContext({VarSpinS: true}); // Spinner On
If(
    FormSendBack.Valid,
    If(
        VarSBIdea.Status.Value = "Sent Back ",
        Patch(
            'CBS Automation Hopper', VarSBIdea,
            {Status: {Value: "Under Review"}}
        );
        SubmitForm(FormSendBack)
    );
    Navigate(Home_Screen),
    Notify(
        "Thare are some Required field inputs missing, please enter all the data and then resubmit!",
        NotificationType.Warning
    )
);
UpdateContext({VarSpinS: false}) // Spinner Off

Thanks,

Hello @R3dKap,

Finally got the solution. It is working as expected after adding the below code in to the forms Item property.

First(Filter(ListName, ID = Gallery.Selected.ID))

Thanks,

Akshay

Hi @AkshayManke,

I just made a test on my side with a form control linked to a SharePoint list in edit mode. Attaching a file to the item works fine.

When you say the attached file is not showing, is it when right after you click the attachement control and add the file or is after submission of your form?

Hi @R3dKap,

i just rechecked and found that not only attachments, but any changes which i am making are not getting saved. I seems some issue in the code. Could you please let me know if you used the same code which i copied in to the original message?

Try adding a Notify() right before your SubmitForm() to make sure that this part of the code is indeed being executed.

Also, what's the name of the datasource for your FormSendBack form?

@R3dKap, if i add the notify before Submit then the form will submit when it is notifying the message. So it will not fulfill the requirement. Any other suggestion please?

@AkshayManke, I very well know that adding the notification will not meet the requirement, but I'm trying to debug your code here: adding the notification will make sure that the SubmitForm() is actually executed.

Otherwise how can you be absolutely sure that the SubmitForm() is indeed executed? Do you have a notification inside your form's OnSuccess event?

Just trying to help find out the origin of the problem... 😉

@AkshayManke, and also: what's the name of the datasource for your FormSendBack form?

Hello @R3dKap, I tried the same. what is now happening is the spinner is not working and i am also not getting navigated to the other screen. could please help me that what should be the code if i want do the below.

Start Spinner

  If the Form is Valid >

                             If > Value of Column A = 'ABC', then patch Column A : 'CDE',

                                           ^

                                            |

                        Similar conditions as above, Do the patching if the form is valid and submit the form and Navigate to Home Screen

Hi @AkshayManke,

Let's try to summarize the different problems you are facing:

  1. You can't save attachements/data in your datasource <- is this resolved?
  2. You have a spinner problem

About problem #1...

In your initial post's code, you patch a datasource called 'CBS Automation Hopper' and later on you say that the datasource for you FormSendBack form is TestList? Why is that?

Could you describe in details what you are trying to achieve with your app? What's the initial need and how have you structured your app so far? Can you describe it?

About problem #2

I think I'm starting to understand what you're trying to do: "When I submit my form, if status is A then I want statut to be B in the end". Like a "status workflow" for your item. Is that it?

If that's the case, your approach is not the right one. Instead of patching your status column to B after testing if it's A, you should define the default value of your status fied to: If A then B. A simple SumbitForm() will be enough then. No Patch() needed.

Is that what you wanted to do? If not, try to give as much details as possible on what you're trying to achieve. I'm not in your head, I don't know your app, what's it's supposed to do, I don't what screens you have setup and what's on them. I really wish I could help you and provide you with a working solution but I need more inputs here... 🙂
