Unable to add my image component to a gallery

I have gallery which contains an image to reflect the record type of the item being displayed. 

This proved quite popuar with my client so I thought I would convert this a component for use on different screens.

The issue I am seeing, is when I go to edit the gallery ( first item) and click insert the image component is placed outside the gallery😫 - no probs if I want to add a image control😐 as you can see ( above).

Is there some property or setting I need to consider to make my component amenable to galleries?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to add components to a gallery, so it's not some setting property that you've missed.

@timl  , thanks for the update.  Hmmmmm quite limiting I think . I wonder if they plan to remove any of these limitations.
