Unable to get gps coordinates

Hi,

In an PowerApps application, we use the user's location and a destination address by clicking on a button to calculate the route that the user must take to reach this address (find below the formula).

Enable(Location);
Launch(Concatenate("http://bing.com/maps/default.aspx?rtp=pos.", Substitute(Text(Location.Latitude), ",", "."), "_", Substitute(Text(Location.Longitude), ",", "."), "~adr.", Substitute(Text(Concatenate(TextAdresseDetail.Text, " ", TextCodePostalDetail.Text, " ", TextVilleDetail.Text))," ","+"),"&rtop=0~1~0"));
Disable(Location)

During the development, this action was working well. But when we export/import the application to test it like a user, retrieving the user's location is not possible.

When we launch the imported application on a mobile (Android or IOS), PowerApps don't ask us for the location permission. So, when we try to use our button, the application cannot use the user's location (longitude and latitude are empty).

But if we make a change within the application (even on something that is not linked with this action), publish the modification and launched one more time the application on mobile, then the location permission is asking by PowerApps and the action is working well after the agreement.

Furthermore, on desktop, using a web browser, even if PowerApps didn't ask us for location permission, the application is working well.

What's the difference between desktop and mobile ? And why does Powerapps need a modification within the application to ask us for a location permission ?

Is this a bug in PowerApps side ?

Currnetly, I could not reproduce your issue on my side. Actually, the Location Permission Access mechanism within browser and Mobiel device is different.

On your side, please consider modify your formula as below:

Launch(Concatenate("http://bing.com/maps/default.aspx?rtp=pos.", Substitute(Text(Location.Latitude), ",", "."), "_", Substitute(Text(Location.Longitude), ",", "."), "~adr.", Substitute(Text(Concatenate(TextAdresseDetail.Text, " ", TextCodePostalDetail.Text, " ", TextVilleDetail.Text))," ","+"),"&rtop=0~1~0"));

when you use above formula within your app, when you load your app, it would ask you for Location Permission automatically.

Please consider take a try with above solutuion, then export your app, then import your app into your Target environment again, check if the issue is fixed.

I tried your solution, it's still working fine on browser but PowerApps never ask me for location permissions on mobile. Furthermore, on mobile, longitude and latitude are no longer empty but that's retrieve a wrong location. PowerApps localize myself 4km (2.48 miles) away from my current location which is a bit problematic to calculate the route.

Do you have feedback about my issue ?

I tried something else this afternoon. I created a blank application with 4 labels containing those informations : "Longitude", Location.Longitude, "Latitude", Location.Latitude.

After creating this little application, I tested it. The application ask for location permission and works well.

But like my previous test with my company application, when I export this little application and import it (create as new), I reproduce my issue : when launching the "new" app, PowerApps don't ask me for location permissions and the Longitude and Latitude values are not displayed in the labels. (To help you, reproduce the issue, you can find in attachment the package of the little app with 4 labels)

Yesterday afternoon, I tried something else. I create a blank application with only 4 labels, containing : "Longitude", Location.Longitude, "Latitude", Location.Latitude. When I publish the app and launch it, Powerapps ask me for location permissions and all is working fine.

However, when I export/import this little app (create as new) then launch the newly created app, I reproduce the issue that I got with my company's application. PowerApps didn't ask me for location permissions and Longitude and Latitude values weren't initialized.

You can find the little apps package in attachment to help you reproduce the issue.
