Unable to search item from the Browse Screen in a powerapp

Hi,

I have a PowerApp setup that brings data from SP List. I assumed that by default the search would but basic text search is not even working. Can someone help me setup the basic text based search. Title field is empty but there are three fields for which I want to make sure that if a user searched for text contained in any of these columns, it should filter results accodingly.

Below are the columns:

1. Date of Submission (date field)

2. Location (choice)

3. Plate Number (free text)

Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to search item from the Browse Screen in a powerapp

Hi @dmistry,

Could you please share a screenshot about your app's configuration?

Do you want to filter your SP list items based on a text contained in any of three columns (Date of Submission, Location and Plate Number)?

The data structure of my SP list as below:12.JPG

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:13.JPG

Set the Items property of the Gallery control to following formula:

Filter(
'20181026_case9',
TextSearchBox1.Text in Plate_x0020_Number ||
TextSearchBox1.Text in Location.Value ||
TextSearchBox1.Text in Date_x0020_of_x0020_Submission
)

Note: I assume that you use a Gallery control to display your SP list items.

On your side, you should type the following formula:

Filter(
'YourSPList',
TextSearchBox1.Text in Plate_x0020_Number ||
TextSearchBox1.Text in Location.Value ||
TextSearchBox1.Text in Date_x0020_of_x0020_Submission
)

Note: The TextSearchBox1 represents the Text Input control, where the user could type search text.

The GIF screenshot as below:Test1.gif

Above formula may cause a Delegation issue, in order to get rid of this issue, please take a try with the following workaround:

Set OnVisible property of the first screen of your app to following:

ClearCollect(RecordsCollection, 'YourSPList')

Set the Items property of the Gallery to following:

Filter(
    RecordsCollection,
    TextSearchBox1.Text in Plate_x0020_Number ||
    TextSearchBox1.Text in Location.Value ||
    TextSearchBox1.Text in Date_x0020_of_x0020_Submission
)

Best regards,

Kris

Works great, thank you. What exactly is the "Records Collection"?
