Update Calendar Item in Outlook After Event Pulled from PowerApps Calendar (SharePoint)

My aim to create an event calendar for our org. Right now we have a SharePoint calendar where we manage access to event creation/editing and it is connected to a PowerApp which is displaying the events with the ability to filter for relevance and allows the user to pick and choose which events to add to their calendar using the post calendar item function.


The only issue is that once someone adds an event to their calendar, there is no way to update the event if the source event in SharePoint changes.


Is there any way to trigger this update when a SharePoint calendar item is changed?

Do you want to update calendar in outlook after you pulling data to sharepoint when you update calendar in sharepoint?

If so, please notice that the calendar in outlook will not refresh automatically with calendar in sharepoint.

You could see the calendar in these two places separately.

If you update calendar in outlook, it will not affect the calendar in sharepoint.

If you update calendar in sharepoint, it will not affect the calendar in outlook.


However, there's still a solution to copy changes from sharepoint to outlook, or from outlook to sharepoint. (Manually)

After you update calendar in sharepoint or outlook, you just need to click calendar->connect to outloolk in your sharepoint calendar page.



Then you will open outlook calendar.

In outlook calendar, the left side will be your outllook calendar, the right side will be your sharepoint calendar.

You just need to drag the changes that you want to update from one side to another side(from right to left, from left to right).

Then the changes will be copied to another side.

You just need to refresh calendar in your outlook or sharepoint, the changes has been updated already.

The idea is that one we would want to update the event in someone’s personal outlook calendar after it has been added. If that’s not possible, maybe it’s possible to log users who have added a specific event from the PowerApp and trigger a flow to notify them when that event is changed in SharePoint.


The connect to outlook feature is not necessarily what I’m looking for. The SharePoint calendar is a big calendar with many events that are not all relevant for everyone. Adding that calendar to outlook would reduce usability and users would have to scroll through all events to find the ones relevant for them. The PowerApp allows for the filtering of events based on category etc. Which makes it easier for people to find what they’re looking for. All we’re missing is the ability to update the events after a change

Do you want to update one personal outlook calendar when you update sharepoint calendar automatically?
I'm afraid it's not supported currently.

The data's transferring between these two calendar could only be manually after you pull calendar to sharepoint.
