Update Column in a Excel Table using a Flow and RowID/ PowerappsID

Guys,

I am using a google Sheet document to maintain some data.

I connected this doc via powerApps, using the corresponding connector, but unfortunatly it broke this document by updating a "used" (containing data) column and added this "PowerAppsId" data

I attached a screenshot.

How coud I prevent such thing to happen ?

Thanks.

Hi @FredEsn,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to prevent the __PowerAppsId__ column from being added into your Google sheet?

If you want to prevent the __PowerAppsId__ column from being added into your Google sheet when you connect to this sheet from your app, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

Actually, when you create a connection to your Google sheet from your app, it would create a column called __PowerAppsId__ automatically, with a unique ID for each row of your Google sheet. The __PowerAppsId__ column would be acted as unique Row Id of each row of your Google sheet.

If you want to update an existing row in your Google sheet using MS Flow, you need to use the corresponding __PowerAppsId__ column value as the Row Id.

Best regards,

Kris

Hi Kris,

thanks a lot for this explaination, it helps me to understand how the product works.

My "problem" is in fact that this extra data has been added in a column that contained valuable data, in other words powerappsID coulumn replaced my data.

In the attached screenshot columns AW, AX, AY used to contain data, and this powerappsID column replaced my "AX" data.

question would be : how to prevent such problem ? For example, explicitely mention the column that should be used for this indexing data.

Thanks !

Fred

Hi @FredEsn,

Is there a __PowerAppsId__ column existed in your Google sheet?

Do you mean that the AX column data has been overwrited by __PowerAppsId__ column value in your Google sheet?

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

Please take a try to re-create a new Google sheet on your side, then create a connection to this new sheet from your flow, then try it again, check if the issue still exists.

Best regards,

Kris

Hi Kris,

I confirm the scenario : an existing file has bee broken by the connector, updating all the data in a column for this powerAppsID.

Would it be possible to share offile this file with you in order to have your expertise ?

Thanks a lot !

Regards.

Hi, I did the test again and had same result.

I suspect some logic in the connector that generates this behavior.

What would be the best way to deep dive this ?

Thanks.
