Update SP with sender response details

Current Process

- Powerapps form submitted and recorded in SP

- Flow triggered and email sent to Approver #1         (Send email with options)

- If Approver #1 approves (e.g. condition met) then
     1) SP list is updated with response       (Update Item)

     2) email sent to Approver #2       (Send email with options)

- Approver #2 to approve / reject

- End of process

I have created columns in my SP list for Approver #1 details (First approver name, first approver email, Response, Approval date).

I am currently using the Update Item function and it is successfully updating the response column. How can I get the other columns to reflect the details of the user who actioned the approval?

The update item function only seems to allow me to input the following dynamic content: Modified, Last Modified, etc which aren't working as the emails look like I am the sender.

I am wanting to record in the SP list who and when the two approvers responded to the email requesting for approval.

Any thoughts?

Hi @DTTN ,

Could you please share a screenshot about your flow's configuration?

Do you add a "Start and wait for an approval" action or "Send an email with options" action of Outlook to send the approval request?

I have made a test on my side, I think the "Start and wait for an approval" action could achieve your needs. The flow's configuration as below:

Please consider take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

Thank you for that solution - it is now working and I am able to record the approver details into the list.

Is there anyway to verify/audit that approver details are correct?

e.g. We know that only the approver can approve as the email is sent/assigned to them but in the version history of the list, it says that I have modified the list details with the approver information.

Is there anyway around that?

Hi @DTTN ,

Is the solution I provided above helpful in your scenario?

Do you want to update the Approver #1 details within your SP List with the approver's credential?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I think this issue is related to the connection you used to connect to the "Update Item" action in your flow.

Actually, the "Update Item" action in your flow is based on the current connection. In other words, if User A run your flow, and provide his credential to connect the "Update Item" action, then the modifier of this approver information would be User A. If User B run your flow, and he provide his credential to connect the "Update Item" action, then the modifier of this approver information would be User B.

Note: The "Update Item" action would be subject to current user's credential (who run this flow).

If want to change connection to the "Update Item" action dynamically based on current approver who sent response, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in Power Automate currently.

If you would like this feature to be added in Power Automate, please consider submit an idea to Power Automate Ideas Forum:
