Update one TextInput based on another only if blank

Hello,

I am brand new to PowerApps and I am having a bit of trouble with updating a TextInput field B based on changes to TextInput field A only if field B is blank.

I have had success with setting the default property of field B with

     Default = DataCardValue25.Text
but if field A gets updated after field B is filled in it will change the value of field B again

I tried

      Default = If(IsBlank(DataCardValue31), DataCardValue25.Text, "")

but I am getting a "This rule created a circular reference between properties, which is not allowed" error

I've also tried setting DataCardValue31.Text in the OnChange property of DataCardValue25 (field a) but I am not seeing success with this method either.

I must be missing something simple.

Thanks

Re: Update one TextInput based on another only if blank

Hi @Keenan21 ,

Is DataCardValue25 also a text field? Is this DataCardValue31 a text control inside edit form? If so, then please set below formula in the Default property of this textinput control:

If(IsBlank(Parent.Default),DataCardValue25.Text,Parent.Default)

Regards,

Mona
