Usability of the People Picker Drop Down menu

During usability testing of my PowerApp, most users have been confused about why their "selection" is not saved for the people inputs. The issue seems to be that they enter the email address of the person that they want into the searchbox of the People selector. That shows them the correct person in the drop down list, but then they don't click the person in the drop down list. They just leave the email address and go on to the next field. The Search field stays filled in with the email address when they leave the field, so it looks like it worked. Has anyone else had users confused by this UX and any ideas on how to solve it?

Re: Usability of the People Picker Drop Down menu

Have you tried flagging it with an error message/warning like "please make sure to click a User's name after searching" if the selected item for that field IsBlankOrError as a way to notify them that they have not selected the person?

Re: Usability of the People Picker Drop Down menu

Hi @pcmccull ,

Yes, your description is correct, but there are different places shown if you don't click the person. The unselected person has no base color, but the selected person is shown in gery.

If you want the difference to be clearer, you can use label to show error info when the combo box is unselected.

If you want the combo box to automatically choose the best match, you can submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum: .
