Using PowerApp to search and send invitation to LinkedIn user

Hello,

I've made a very basic power-app which scans business card and save it to SharePoint.

I need to search using FirstName and LastName on LinkedIN and send invitation to connect from a button click from the same app.

How would I go to accomplish this?

I am fairly new to Power platform. Please enlighten if I need to create flow, power automate not sure ?

Thanks

Hey Rikin

Nice scenario! I know linkedIn tightens up their APIs a few years ago (https://thenextweb.com/dd/2015/02/12/linkedin-takes-aim-developers-plans-lock-apis/), so the existing linkedIn connector is quite limited in what you can do - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/connectors/linkedinv2/

However, it seems like the API has a 'send invitation' call that you can leverage, but you'll probably have to build a custom connector to leverage it. Send Invitation API - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/linkedin/shared/integrations/communications/invitations

One thing i noticed was that you will need the linkedIn personID or matching email adress to send the request

My suggestion would be:

- use postman (or something similar) to get the send invitation call working

- build a custom linkedIn connector and add the send invitation action

- create a flow that takes the linkedIn email address as an input and call the send invitation action supplying the message and email address

- call the flow from your power app

Its a bit high level at the moment, but hopefully it should provide you with enough direction 🙂
