Using the same SharePoint list from multiple PowerApps

I want to create two PowerApps, which are using the same SharePoint list. When I build the second app and try to register the SharePoint table as a data source, which I also use in the first app, my table is not shown and I therefore cannot choose it.

Is it not possible to use the same table from two apps or is there a special trick?

 

Reason why I am doing this is that I need two different views on the data for different user roles working with the data and the views are to different to implement them within the same app.

I solved my original problem - the issue was, that I renamed the list a while ago. My first app and also Teams are still showing the former name of the list and this is the name I also expected when choosing the table in my second app - PowerApp of course showed the new name 🙄 What a stupid mistake and I searched for an hour 😠

 

However based on your response I will think about my design - thanks for the hint!

Yes, you can connect as many apps to a list as you like.

My suggestion would be to try and incorporate your views and roles into one app, as this will make maintaining apps a little easier on you.  

But that said, yes, you can connect to them in many apps.

 

You just need to add the datasource by choosing the SharePoint data connection you have in your designer, and then choose the site and list.

I assume I am doing something wrong. I did the following:

  • I click on the data symbol in the left hand side of the designer
  • Choose "+" to add a new data source
  • Enter "SharePoint"
  • Select the "SharePoint" connector
  • Select my SharePoint connection
  • My SharePoint Websites are shown on the right hand side
  • I select the Website which contains my table
  • The content of the website is shown, but the table I want to connect (which I already use in the first app) is missing

For testing purposes I created a new table within the same website and the new table is shown.

I will think about your suggested approach. I assume for this I would have to create multiple screens which are made visible based on a condition I have to pass over when opening the application?

First, the last part...yes, you would use visible properties and screen navigation and a variety of other processes to get all in one app.  

Note though...if your app is designed for people with various permission levels in the list, then multiple apps (not desirable) is an easy approach.

 

Next part...what kind of list is your list in your site?  Just a list, Document library, task list, etc.??

And, at the bottom of your lists when you are choosing a list to add, there is a "enter custom table name", are you able to put your list name there??  Some lists will not show in PowerApps (depending on the type of list), but the entering of the custom name will usually always bring it in.
