What protocol does PATCH use?

Hi everyone,

I was curious about the Http protocol that the Patch function uses.
I'm currently creating a timesheet application for my organization.
When I've attempted to submit data to the Dynamics data source, we recieve errors from the server.
The error message reads "A value must be provided for item".
When we tested submitting information trough Postman, we were able to use POST to dynamics without a hitch. Using PATCH however, returns a message stating that the data source does not support Patch.

I've created a Flow that is able to recieve information and then send them to the datasource. This method works.

I am asking this question since a member of my team has stated that the PowerApps Patch function uses POST. But I cannot find documamentation to confirm that.

To summerize: I am asking if the Patch function within PowerApps uses Http.Patch when submitting information to a Dynamics data source.

Thank you for any input 🙂

Hi @ebDev ,

Can you please share the Patch function formula here? Also, check if below thread could help:

Re: What protocol does PATCH use?

thank you for the  reply.

Here is my patch function.
     psa_project: project,
      psa_item: item,
      psa_case: case,
      psa_name: description,
      psa_start: start,
      psa_end: end,
      psa_internalnote: internalNote,
      psa_hours: calcedHours,
      psa_hourtype: Dropdown1_1.Selected,
      psa_employee: curEmp
      createdby: curEmp
I've stored much of the data within variables.
I've had other patch functions work with CDS and Excel. But it seems like Dynamics rejects the data that I am sending to it (unless I use a flow to submit data/ post data directly through Postman).
