Wrong Date displayed in Canvas App... but only for one very specific date!

Hi all, this is stumping me - I have a canvas app which connects the a SharePoint Online list.  In my list, there is a "Date Only" field, which is displayed on the PowerApps form.  The formula for Powerapps is: Text(ThisItem.DateOnlyFieldInQuestion,"dd/mm/yyyy","en-US").

 

Now, this works perfectly fine for all records... except for any in which the SharePoint date only field is exactly "07/10/2018" (i.e. 7th October 2018).  In PowerApps, this displays as "06/10/2018" (6th October 2018, the day before) for some reason.

 

If I update the formula to include the time (Text(ThisItem.DateOnlyFieldInQuestion,"dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss","en-US"), then the date is displayed as : "06/10/2018 23:00:00".  For all other records, the date is correct and the time is 00:00:00, which is what I would have expected for a Date Only field.  For example, if I manually enter 6/10/2018, it correctly shows 6/10/2018.  If I enter the day after, 8/10/2018, it shows the correct date 8/10/2018.

 

I'm a bit stumped, is there something unique about that time and date?  Does this sound like a bug?  Thanks in advance for any assistance!

 

EDIT 1: I feel like I'm going crazy, but was able to replicate the issue using the 1st Sunday of October in whatever year (e.g. 2nd October 2016, 1st October 2017).  Haven't identified any other dates that might trigger it...

Text(ThisItem.DateOnlyFieldInQuestion+0.5,"dd/mm/yyyy","en-US").

You are adding on half day so it becomes 12 noon. Subtract an hour from that and it is still the same date.

Hi @DRVR_HTS,

I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

Please check if the Time Zone setting of your SP list is same as your PowerApps. In other words, please make sure the Time Zone of your SP list is same as your local Time Zone.

Currently, I could not reproduce your issue on my side. Please consider take a try to re-create your SP list, then generate an app based on this new SP List, then check if the issue still exists.

Thanks, I've checked both the SP list and my local system and both are the same regional settings - i.e. Australia and English (Australia).

 

However, I have just realised that the date I am having an issue with (first Sunday of October) is when Daylight Savings starts in our country!  As this is when we lose an hour, this would also cause PowerApps to subtract 1 hour from the default 00:00:00 (midnight), pushing the value for that single day back to 23:00:00 the day before.  I can replicate this for all past and future instances of the first Sunday of October.

 

With that being the case, how can I get PowerApps to respect the loss of an hour at the start of Daylight Savings?

Thanks, that was it!  Despite it being a Date Only field, I was able to manipulate the PowerApps version of the field by adding a couple of arbitrary hours to it.  Now all dates are correct, regardless of daylights savings or not.  Thanks all, much appreciated.

Oh my goodness, thank you SO much for posting this.  We had this exact same issue (02-Oct-2022 kept displaying as 01-Oct-2022) and felt we were going crazy too!  The +0.5 trick worked!!
