Wrong results when formatting textboxes as percentages

In my Power App there are some text boxes that are formatted as percentages that need to be used in a calculation. For some reason when the calculation runs it doesn't get the correct result. Why is this coming up with the wrong number? I have inserted a photo of the issue below. All the textboxes with percentages in them are formatted using the same method as the selected text box.capture3.PNG

PowerApps is converting your %'s to decimals.  Multiply the Sum by 100 to get the correct number.

Yes, I see that now. Thank you for your help!

Hi,

You are Sum-ing text values, like imagine asking it to Sum '5' and 'F' and 'Bananas' - this Text() display will work for the other labels as they only have a single number in them before you convert them to text, but the rest will be unlikely to be correctly determined as it is reading them as the end-result text value with three characters in. If you split the labels each by their percentage and then take the first part of that split, you can have a correct Sum:

Text(Sum(Value(First(Split(DeductionsDiscountsSlottingLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result), Value(First(Split(FreightLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result),Sum(Value(First(Split(CommissionLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result), Value(First(Split(RebatesLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result), Value(First(Split(RoyaltiesLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result), Value(First(Split(BrokerageFeeLCG1Edit.Text, "%")).Result))), "#%")

Cheers,

It's happening because you are not passing a number in the sum function. Sum function accepts number & only number in string as well and returns it's summation. What you are doing is passing a string which contains a number and % like (Text(Sum("25%" + "5%" + "10%" + "15%" + "5%" + "15%")) = error result(0% , 1%))

Abhijeetsm_0-1657720955927.png

But if you pass a correct argument like number in the sum function. It will give you the expected result.

Abhijeetsm_1-1657721078685.png

So you need to somehow remove the "%" from your string which can be done using left function:

Left(TextInput2, Find("%", TextInput2) - 1)

Left function accepts a string and number of characters to take Left("10%", 2) will give 10.

Find function returns the starting position of a string which was passed in the find function like Find("%", "10%") which will give 3. It takes three arguments find string, within string and starting position.

But you want to remove the "%" character in the string. So in the Left function: Left(TextInput2, Find("%", TextInput2) - 1). As I mentioned earlier, left function takes string and number of characters so (Find("%", TextInput2) - 1) will give you 2. And Left("10%", Find("%", "10%") - 1) will give you 10. This will give you number which you can use it sum function to aggregate. It should solve your problem.

If it solves your problem, accept this as a solution. Thank you!

The total deductions are now being properly calculated, but when the decimal is passed back from the database to the edit form the textboxes are not converting the decimal back to a percentage. So if I type "10%" in the Deductions text box and submit it, it will submit as .10, but when I go to load it again it displays as "0%". It still has the value of .10, but it is not displaying correctly. Here is what I was using to convert the text boxes to percentages right now.

Actually, @Drrickryp your solution for the previous problem is exactly the same for these textboxes. The number will still be saved properly as a decimal, but the parent value can just be multiplied by 100 on the form.
