Hello all,
I created my first PowerApp that uses Excel as a datasource. The Excel file is located on my (company) OneDrive.
I explicitely shared the Excel file with the people with who I also shared the PowerApp.
Unfortunately when the others try to save an entry, they get an error if it is running in one of the PowerApps app or when they run it though a web browser, they return into an empty screen.
I guess there's a security issue. What can I do about it?
Note :the powerapp uses the feature to upload an image. The images are stored in a subfolder of the folder where the main Excel file is stored. I also shared that folder with the users.
This isssue does not appear to be resolved audrieg
@SupermanDo you mind answering my questions that I posted on this thread on 12-09-2016 07:44 AM? That will help me to assist you.
Audrie
I did not have any problems implementing this solution.
Gerry
I guess I was lucky because I did not get any errors and the api worked as expected.
Sorry for your troubles
Gerry
Hi audrief
I have removed and added the connection back but no change
Users sign in with their own login details though
The data is stored in my One drive for business folder but I have shared to users with full control
Am I doing something wrong?
Hi audrieg,
Thanks for your reply
I have removed and reinstated connection to one drive but no luck
The xls files are kept on my One drive for business and shared with 3 other users with full control given
Users have added their own one drive creditials in powerapps. Can read but wont write.
Same set up in dropbox works fine
Am I missing something?
@Superman Ok, Got it! This means that this may not be resolvable using the Forum (there's probably not an answer that will resolve your issue). There could be something going on that we need to troubleshoot with a support technician.
To follow-up on this, please go to this link and open a support ticket (this will engage support and they will follow-up directly with you): https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/support/ (scroll down to the bottom right of that page)
Thank you for your patience,
Audrie
Hi Audrie,
Thanks again for the help.
Hi had already logged a ticket but I logged another as you sugget
Thanks you
Ok... I have figured out a solution for me, it may help for others. I have been working in the desktop builder during my devlopment process. I did this to allow for versioning with a repository. However, I was having the same issue that many were having in that when I did a photo upload to One Drive under my user it worked great. When I switched to another user (making sure that user had all the permissions needed), that user was not able to upload the photo. I did all of the items listed in this thread and still no luck.
So I decided to try something out. I went to the web builder, removed my connection to One Drive, and re-connected, and it worked! So it looks like the desktop version of the builder is not working the same as the web version.
I don't know if this was a fluke, but it might be worth someone else giving this a try if they are having the same issue.
Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. I've tried to shared the location of the excel data file explictly as well but still not working. They can get to the app but none of the data from the Excel file is showing. Error they see is:
