Solved! Go to Solution.
Hey Folks,
Just wanted to give some background on this issue and answer some of the questions this thread:
Q: Why did I receive the "PowerApps Trial plan will expire.." email this week?
A: You received that email because you had signed up for a PowerApps trial or Flow trial and that trial was expiring in the coming week. There was an issue in our system where we sent out the email notification before the email content was ready, big oops on our part :). Given the confusion this caused, we automatically extended the trials for anyone who received an email for an addition month to May 7th, 2017.
Q: What happens if I already have access to PowerApps through my Office 365 or Dynamics 365 subscription when my trial expires?
A: First of all, it is possible for you to both have access to PowerApps through your Office or Dynamics subscription AND still sign-up for a 90-day trial to test our the PowerApps Plan 2 features.
When your trial expires, unless you upgrade or extend your trial, you will lose access to all premium features that are exclusive to Plan 2, as outlined on the PowerApps pricing page. However, the apps, environment, or CDS databases, etc. that you created while on trial will not be deleted.
If the apps that you built during your trial period do not leverage premium features (such as the Common Data Service or Salesforce) then you will be able to continue building and running those apps (through the PowerApps capabilities offered through yoru Office 365 or Dynamics 365 subscription). However, if those apps DO leverage premium features then you will no longer be able to use those apps.
For example, lets assume that during your PowerApps trial, you created a new environment, provisioned a CDS database in that environment, and then built an app that connected to the database. Then your trial expires, but you still have access to PowerApps through your Office 365 subscription. At this point in time, you will still be able to access https://web.powerapps.com and see your application, but you be blocked from runnning the app since your Office subscription does not give you access to user the Common Data Service (as outlined in the table below from the PowerApps pricing page):
Q: From @Antonio "What I can do in order to use the O365 E3 subscription only?"
A: Per the previous answer, all you need to do is ignore the email notification, let your trial expire and continue using PowerApps without leveraging premium features (premium features arte outlined on the PowerApps pricing page).
Q: What happens to me when my trial expires and I don't have an Office 365 or Dynamics 365 subscription?
A: You will have two options:
Q: From @jbradley "We're on a Government G3 tenant, and I received the same message about the trial ending."
A: Unfortunately PowerApps does not officially support Government/GCC customers today. We are working on a permanent plan, and we will share the details once it is locked.
We are currently investigating this email problem, thank you for the report.
Hi Antonio,
If you have Office 365 E3 subscription, you can continue using the PowerApps. Its just that with PowerApps Plan 2 Trial you can use advance functionalities (for limited time) as mentioned in the pricing page.
On this specific email which you have received (with limited information), we plan to send across more detailed communication on it soon.
Hello,
thanks a lot for your reply,
How is possible that a PowerApps Plan 2 Trial is active too?
What are the functionalities involved, we do not use Common Data Service,
We have an environment created from the Admin.Do I need to delete the environemnt and migrate the app to the default one ?
Thanks a lot
Best Regards
Hi @Antonio,
You should be able to check the License through Office 365 Admin center (Global Admin is required to access the Office 365 Admin portal):
How to View Assigned Licenses by User in Office 365
For the feature differences between diferent PowerApps licenses, please check the compare plans part in the article below:
It is better to migrate your app to the default environment, as currently only PowerApps Plan 2 is available to manage Environments, based on the documentation above.
Regards
Hello,
thanks a lot for your reply.
I did a check and this is the licence I found :
Let me know
Thanks
Hello,
do you have any news ?
I have just received an email from PA saying the following :
You may have received an email yesterday that lacked some details about your PowerApps trial expiration. We apologize for any confusion. You are receiving this email because you have a free trial to PowerApps or Microsoft Flow that will expire on May 7th, 2017. No action is required now, but watch for upcoming emails to learn more about continuing your use of PowerApps and Microsoft Flow. For plan details, please visit the PowerApps or Microsoft Flow pricing pages. Have questions? Contact our team now.
If this is referred to the PowerApps Plan 2 active (i don't know how is that possible)
What I can do in order to use the O365 E3 subscription only ?
Thanks a lot
Same issue here. We're on a Government G3 tenant, and I received the same message about the trial ending. I haven't received any sort of clarification message though. I posted a question in this forum as well but still waiting to hear back.

The license posted by @Antonio should be PowerApps Plan 2 trial:
"
If at least one user in your tenant participated in the PowerApps public preview that spanned from April 2016 to October 2016 then you will see 10,000 licenses labeled as "Microsoft PowerApps and Logic flows"
If at least one user in your tenant has signed-up for a PowerApps Plan 2 trial by going through trial signup Option 1 outlined in the How do users sign up for PowerApps section then you will see 10,000 licenses labeled "Microsoft Power Apps & Flow"
You can choose to assign additional licenses to users yourself through the Office 365 admin portal, but please note that these are trial licenses for Microsoft PowerApps Plan 2 and they will expire after 90 days of being assigned to a user.
"
Information could be found under (refer to the part:Why did 10,000 licenses for Microsoft PowerApps show up in my Office 365 tenant😞
