add expression to a flow that creates a note in a record

Hi there

If anyone could help me on this I would be extremely grateful.

I have a  flow which in it I call a variable which creates a note with a specific title from what is entered into a powerapp. I would like if that field in the powerapp has been left blank to not enter any data and leave the Note field it populates in Dynamics as bank. I would like to add an expression and want to know if this is possible and what should my expression be , I think this is probably the best approach but haven't used expressions in this way yet?

Re: add expression to a flow that creates a note in a record

Hi @rojo ,

Which result do you want to achieve within your flow?

Could you please share a whole screenshot about your flow's configuration?

I have made a test on my side, please consider take a try with the following workaround:

6.JPG

Within the Title field of the "Create a new record" action in your flow, please type the following expression:

if(
    empty(variables('Related Supplier Case ID')),
    null,
    variables('Related Supplier Case ID')
)

In addition, you could also consider check if the Note Text Input box is blank within your app, if it is blank, pass a Blank value to your flow, if not, pass the entered Note value to your flow.

Within your app, please modify your Flow Event formula as below:

'FlowName'.Run(
               If(IsBlank(NoteInputBox.Text), Blank(), NoteInputBox.Text), /* <-- The argument to pass Note field value to flow */
               ..,
               ..
)

Please consider take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

Re: add expression to a flow that creates a note in a record

Hey @rojo

You can use the 'coalesce' in flow for this. In place where you have selected the variable in the Title attribute, remove the variable and then in the expression editor type coalesce(variables('variablename'),' ')

This will return the first non null value which means that if the variable is blank it will return the space key.

Hope this Helps!

Re: add expression to a flow that creates a note in a record

Thank you

I have tried this but still not getting the desired result just yet, maybe I am doing something wrong here, have also tried removing the full text from the Title field but getting the same result also.

The description field was also an issue so have removed any text in there

It is still showing up with the following in the case: see screenshot of note

Thank you again for your reply
