auto increment field on NEW only.

I am trying to create my first app and it is a simple Request for Quote. When someone creates a new request I would like the RFQ# to auto correct. When the request is updated the RFQ# should not change. Right now the new section works fine, but when someone tries to edit this in order to update the RFQ the RFQ# is blank. Im sure I am just doing something simple and incorrect.

My formula is

If (
SharePointForm1.Mode=New,
Last('2019 RFQ Workbook').'RFQ#'+1,
Parent.Default
)

Re: auto increment field on NEW only.

Do you have that on the default of the actual Text Input (your DataCardValue) and not the card itself? The default for the card needs to stay with the ThisItem.FieldName and put that condtion you have on the TextInput Default.

If that doesn't do it change the portion of the Parent.Default to the ThisItem.FieldName.
