backup and restore sharepoint list

I have a lot of sharepoint lists associated with my app so my question is how do you back up and restore sharepoint lists quickly and effectively? I googled but found no concrete way in backing up and restoring sharepoint lists.

Thanks in advance

Exposed...gives a rush at least! 😉

I do see now in looking at some of the newer articles out on the web that in general, enabling scripts on your site will give you this feature.

However...even going back to the original post by @ntt56k4 , if it is true backup and restore ability that you want then there are some options.  I found this article to be fairly explicit on options.

if you are referencing backing up the actual sharepoint list itself then goto list settings, click save as template, give your backup a name and check the box that says include content. that will make a backup of the list.

thanks but for some reason my list settings don't have that option.

Talk to your admin maybe? You may not have proper permissions set.

thanks but I don't think that is the case because I am one of the global admins so I should have all the access.

Looks like save as template is not available under SharePoint Online modern team site. What a bummer.

@ntt56k4

Saving as a template is not an option in a SharePoint online site that has been created by making a Group, Team, etc.

In other words...easy way to tell...if your URL includes /Sites in it, you will not be able to save as a template.

Is it the data you want to backup or is it data and schema?

There are third party tools out there that will do this for you as well.

I hope this is helpful for you.

If you have admin access, then try this

@RandyHayes  That's odd, all of my sp lists have /sites/ in the url and I am able to save them as templates

thanks I never thought about backing up SharePoint lists until one of my lists mysteriously disappeared rendering my app completely useless. I suspect one of the global admins deleted but I don't know how to prove it. I guess I have to look for a third party app then.
