Did you make sure that you both Saved and Published your changes?  The play mode will only pick up the changes after they have been Published.

i have another app that uses the same component and it shows up as black as well, although once i click it it fixes it.

There are no sub groups in this app though.

What in the component is applying the grey color?  Are you sure its not using a property passed in from the app?

yes the color is being passed by a property.  the color works in edit mode for the property , but its not getting set in the App.

i just tried reloading the component and reapplying every and its still doing it, for some reason it wont save/show custom properties when you play the app.

@Robert14356 , Inside the gallery where you are using component property to apply the color, can you try following expression? See if it makes any difference.

If(!IsBlank(ThisItem), Component1.YourCustomPropertyHere)
