crash on SaveData

Hi,

I have an app requirement to store photos during an offline session

PowerApps crashes when 4 photos are in the collection

to reproduce create a new app, insert an Add piture control, set the OnSelect to

Collect(pics,{pic:AddMediaButton1.Media})

insert a gallery just to confirm the picture are being captured, items=pic

insert a button to save the collection for later use

OnSelect = SaveData(pics,"photos")

Save and run on iOS device

take a photo and click the button, for me after 3 or 4 photos PowerApps crashes. I suspect the collection/photos are being written to memory first and there is not enough avaialabe for the photos.

Hi @chrisvdw,

This might becuase that there is too much data to be serialized for the device to handle all at once. Ideally the PowerApps client would serialize the data in smaller “chunks”. We have already logged a bug for this and we are testing the limits of SaveData and will work to ensure that a reasonable size is supported.

Mona

any update on this? it appears to be still crashing at least in my testing.

I am seeing intermittant crashes also using photos). I also notice this is one function that is still quite slow when you take photos using the native camera control. In other words, saving to the cache takes way longer than one would expect...
