customized form - patch record on existing item in sharepoint list where data is coming from flows

Hi,

I have a customized form connected to Sharepoint list

In the form, user will enter ID and click on button to get data related to the ID.

In backend , a flow is triggered and gets the data from store procedure.

I am collecting the output from flow in a collection and displaying the data.

so the DEFAULT value of these datacards are set to : collection_name.column_name

Now , when user is editing existing record, these datacard are blank as default value is set to collection_name.column_name

i tried to put condition on the formview, but user should be able to load and update the existing record also, so this option doesnt work . tried few other options also , Where should I use patch and how should I set default value to thisitem.column ?

thanks

Re: customized form - patch record on existing item in sharepoint list where data is coming from flo

Hi @ssvk,

Collection is not a valid data source for EditForm control.

There is another thread talking about the workaorund, see if that would help in your scenario:

Binding Collection to EditForm is not working

To update the existing record with the form control, things that should be take a note:

1. EditForm FormMode property,

2. EditForm Data Source and the Item property,

3. Do not use the submitform function, instead, take use of the patch(),

4. the formula under the patch should be similar to:

Patch(DataSource, Lookup(DataSource, ID=first(Collection).ID), {FieldMapping})

The data source here should be the SharePoint list, or the SQL Server Database table.

Regards,

Michael
