design question, how to pass info between forms and views

I have a main entity. action-type entity, and history entity. The history entity has relationships with main and action-type. I wiuld like to do the following:

  • place a link or menu on the main entity form that will open a view showing only history for that enrity
  • place a link or menu on the main entity view that will open a view showing only history for that enrity
  • if new history is created in this filtered history view, populate the main entity automatically

This is a model app. How can I do these things? Is there an example? A brief description with steps involved would be nice.

Hi @dmcdivitt,

Could you please share a bit more about the views that you mentioned? Is it the screen within your app?

Do you want to pass info between forms and screens within your app?

Further, do you create a canvas app or a Model-Driven app?

If the app that you created is a Model-Driven app, and you want to pass info between forms and views, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

If the app that you created is a canvas app, and you want to pass info between forms and screens, I think the Navigate function could achieve your needs.

More details about the Navigate function in PowerApps, please check the following article:

Navigate function

After looking at things a good while, I didn't think the functionality I wanted was there. So I decided to change to canvas. Thanks for the confirmation.
