help with selection visibility

Hi!,

I am making an application to enter forms and in it, there is a column called form type, where there are 3 sections, A, B and C.

I have created a section called Tickets, where people will be able to see their progress. My problem arises when I want to show the selection they made in the form in the ticket. How can I do that?

For example, in a ticket, it shows Progress, Created by, Created on, id number and, I need the text of the selection (A,B or C) they made in the form to appear.

Please help me!

Regards!

That answers the question as to why you can't get the data! Choice columns in SP are a little different animal. If you are using PowerApps to be the face of your data, I would suggest not using Choice columns as they do present some challenges. You can use PowerApps to manage the choices of the column. But that's OK we can make this work for you.

Here is some info on the PowerApps Choices function. that will allow you to get the value from the column and also show you can use it in a form. For a little more background you can see this video from Shane Young.

The Choices function will pull out the data from the list for you as it is stored in a different manner than text data is.

I think we need a little more clarification. Are you wanting to display the A, B or C or some text that corresponds to the letter? Is there a field in your data source to keep track of the section they are in (to hold the A,B or C)?

Hi @BrianS

Sorry for not expressing myself well.

I have made a Gallery, which shows the status of the raised tickets.

Each ticket shows:

- Approval status

-Creation date Responsible for approval

-Type of selected form.

The latter is the one I'm having trouble with. I need it to show the selection that the person made when entering the record in the sharepoint list.

For example, I register from the list and, when selecting from the options in the "Form type" column "B", I need the ticket to show the letter "B".

I tried putting in the Text property: "Form Type" & ThisItem.'Form Type'.Value but this doesn't work as the form type property is something else.

I look forward to your comments and appreciate your response.

How are you having the user select the FormType? Is it a dropdown or a textbox? Is the field a choice field or a text field, or something else?

Hi @BrianS

It's a drop down menu.

And what I want to display, is the text of their selection when the form is already entered.

So a further question - is the correct data not making it into the SP list, or are you having a hard time navigating depending on what the SP list value is? If you are querying the SP list for the value, you just need the name of the list and the field name - List1.FieldName - unless you have spaces then it would be List1."Field Name". If you are in a form you just need to use the name of the field in the "DataField or Default property depending on whether it is in a data card or just on the page or form.

Thanks for you help @BrianS .

Regarding what you say, my problem is just reflecting the selected option as a text in my App.

I attach an image as an example. Where says "You have selected:" I want it to say the option that the person selected when entering the form in the sharepoint list. For example: "You have selected: B"

Provided you have a single record selected, in that label you should be able to use:

"You have selected " & ThisItem.FormType

If that doesn't work we will need to see a little more about your data structure and your page. Can you provide more screen shots?

@BrianS of course,

I attach images of the sharepoint list and the list of options.

And here, you can see the powerapps formula. I tried with these two.
