today i hade the same problem with the date format.
i had set the format in a column to date *14.03.2012
today i looked again in this excel it is replaced as standard/default!?
id format as value is also lost.
Hi Markus,
I think you can use Excel to store values but not formats. You should rely on the PowerApps function Text toset formats for display in PowerApps.
Also, regarding the Id it depends on whether this is a text or numerical field in PowerApps when you Patch to Excel.
i believe format was the wrong name, i mean the column/cell content type.
i had allways set the type of column. its by detault standard.
powerapps understand the type value, text, date .. and show and handle it correct.
maybe the excel get broken at save. i don't know.
Hi MarkusR,
I guess that you have set the column/cell content type on your data source, such as Excel file, SharePoint, then you create an app based on the data source, but you want the content to be shown on the app as what you have set on your data source.
But I have to say that we can use data sources to retrieve and store information, but not format. For more details please see this article for a reference:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/working-with-data-sources/
About how to format, you could use Text function to format a date/time value for display as a string of text. Please see this article for a reference:
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/function-text/
https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/show-text-dates-times/
Best regards,
Mabel Mao
i am sure powerapps read the column format / type like text, value, date because the form area where you can view or edit the
fields knows it.
this column format/type was lost in the excel file for any reason, and not allways.
the powerapps app was the only one that resave this file, so i think it got broken at save/update data there at onedrive.
