powerapps Dropdown control not passing data to SQL Server database

i have a table of data that my dropdown is looking at and I can connect to this in my app.

What i am trying to to is pass the .selected value to my database but it can't as it's expecting a varchar and i have the error

"The property expects text values, but this rule produces incompatible Record values"

I feel that i have to create a text version of the value to pass back but can't work it out.

I'm trying to get teh valueback as part of a data card
