"Return to PowerApps" action in PowerApps triggered Flow not working. Http Response instead does.

Please be so kind as to read my full post before responding.
Thank you for your consideration.

To avoid delegation issues with CountRows trying to find out the total number of Orders in Dynamics,
I use a simple flow, that only retrieves all Orders, initializes the variable to the length, and returns this variable to PowerApps.
The flow run log show me that the flow runs successfully
However, no data seems to arrive in PowerApps.
The context variable I set to the return value of the flow seems to be an empty record.
Trying to use the result in a title yields an empty string.

A simple workaround seems to be to replace the "Respond to PowerApps" action with a Http Response.
Then the flow log still shows success
and PowerApps displays a number

My questions:

  1. Why does the more natural "Respond to PowerApps" action not work?
  2. Is there maybe some confusion with integer/number/string type?
    The only difference I can see in the returned bodies is that the Http Response returns the computed number plain without quotes
        "orders": 2
    while Respond to PowerApps seems to return a string
        "orders": "2"
Last tested with
App ID: 19fbb5b9-31fd-4c70-8de9-89975b365b6d
Session ID: 21a66c2e-a2f6-472c-bffc-a84600ce0745
PowerApps 3.19081.26

I don't know if there's such a thing as a Flow version.

Hi @SaWu

I have noticed issues with returning number types fields

If you use respond to powerapps and return it as a string - it will work

Also in PowerApps use Value(stringreturned) to get it back in Number format

Also make sure to remove the connection to flow and reconnect - there are caching issues once you modiy the Flow - at times PowerApps does not seem to get the Flow updates
