Hi All,

Recently I'm struggling with saving a PenInput control to a DataSource - based on information I've read it seems a functionality that poses some difficulties.

However, I found out that the Cost Estimator template App is a usable example for this matter as the PenInput image is stored in a local Excel worksheet and seems automatically related to a data_images folder. Once I connect the App to OneDrive for Business any drawing that I do in PenInput is stored there as an image that I can easily access.

Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how this logic is built, so I can use it in my own App. Perhaps anyone here can fill me in on how this is built so that the PenInput is stored as an image? As a note I'd like to point out that our data is retrieved from Dynamics 365, but storing a PenInput image anywhere would be very helpful already!

Thank you and please let me know whether you require any further specifications!

Gr. Bas

Hi @Anonymous,

Please refer to below link of step to step documentation about how to save the images created from the pen input control to an Excel file.

In this tutorial, we:

  • Create an Excel file and format it as a table
  • Create a connection to OneDrive for Business. Any cloud storage account will work. In this walk-through, OneDrive for Business is used.
  • Create an app with a pen input control
  • Save the images created from the pen input control to an Excel file
  • Display images from an Excel file in your app
