submitting 2 forms if total hours = over 8.

Hello!

I am having a ticket system where workers can clock-in during their worktime. The app looks like this: https://gyazo.com/c8761eaa962db09ceb8dff502ba24321

Database looks like this:
https://gyazo.com/bccfff0f750091f347877325f6d67d82
Whenever the column tijdtotaal of the day they are wanting to fill in a ticket, is higher than 8, I want it to make a new ticket with the rest of the hours.

This is what we need to do:

-Everytime a new ticket gets created, we need to filter the database on the date of today and see how many rows are there. It then needs to check if TijdTotaal is over 8. When it is over 8, I want it to match up exactly to 8. This may be confusing so I will explain it with a screenshot.

How it is now: https://gyazo.com/b979d3d96597e7eeb8a351dfd4b8a433
How it should look like: https://gyazo.com/f256e7f855acaf9419592bae5bbbe3ff

It needs to calculate it to 8 and use the rest of the time to make a new ticket with the same information as the last ticket. How can we get this?

Just using this code to send the form away: SubmitForm(EditForm1)

I hope I have explained this well enough, if I didn't, let me know and I will try and explain it better.

You able to help? @Mr-Dang-MSFT

Hi @Anonymous ,

Below is an example of using Set() to declare variables instead of With().

ClearCollect(colUrenRegistratie,
    Filter(
        UrenRegistratie,
        Datum = Text(
            Today (),
            "dd/mm/yyyyy"
        ) And varcurrentuser = Werknemer
    )
);

Set(sumTijdTotaal, Sum(colUrenRegistratie,TijdTotaal));
Set(remainder, 8-Mod(sumTijdTotaal,8));

If(
    EditForm1.Updates.TijdTotaal<=8,
    SubmitForm(EditForm1),
    If(
        !EditForm1.Valid,
        Notify("One or more fields in the form were not entered correctly.",NotificationType.Error),
        Patch(UrenRegistratie,Defaults(UrenRegistratie),EditForm1.Updates,{TijdTotaal: remainder});
        Patch(UrenRegistratie,Defaults(UrenRegistratie),EditForm1.Updates,{TijdTotaal: EditForm1.Updates.TijdTotaal-remainder});

        If(
            !IsEmpty(Errors(UrenRegistratie)),

            Notify("There was an error submitting the form and records may not have been submitted successfully.",NotificationType.Error);
            ResetForm(EditForm1);
            Navigate([@Overzicht],Fade)
        )
    )
)

In this case, Set() achieves the same thing that we're doing with With(), but the difference is that Set() holds the values of sumTijdTotaal and remainder to be used elsewhere in the app, whereas With() only uses those values inside the With() formula.

To troubleshoot what's happening, just insert a button and do the top part:

ClearCollect(colUrenRegistratie,
    Filter(
        UrenRegistratie,
        Datum = Text(
            Today (),
            "[$-en-US]dd/mm/yyyyy"
        ) And varcurrentuser = Werknemer
    )
);

Set(sumTijdTotaal, Sum(colUrenRegistratie,TijdTotaal));
Set(remainder, 8-Mod(sumTijdTotaal,8));

Insert a data table to show what's inside the collection.

Insert a label to show what's coming up for sumTijdTotaal and remainder.

  • If remainder is not showing a number equal to the amount of additional hours that can be applied that would add up to 8, then there's an issue with sumTijdTotaal or the collection.
  • If sumTijdTotaal is not showing the right number, there's likely an issue with the collection.
  • If the collection is not showing the records you're expecting, there may be an issue with your filter.

Thank you for your answer. @Mr-Dang-MSFT  What do you mean with Data Table? Just a gallery?

I have inserted a button and 2 text fields. I put the code that u sent inside of the OnSelect of the button. Whenever I have not made any tickets, these are the values, which are correct.

SumTijdTotaal = no value
Remainder = 8

I then created a ticket with 7 hours and pressed the button again

Values:

SumTijdTotaal = 7 which is correct
Remainder = 1, which is correct

Added another ticket with 6 hours and now these are the values:

SumTijdTotaal = 13, which is correct (6+7)

Remainder = 3, which is also correct (16-13=3)

This part seems to be working!

Whenever I remove all tickets and make one of 9 hours, it goes to 8 hours but does not create the new one. I get this error: https://gyazo.com/9c132722fbabab4ff6a6fdce405fb81a

I also get the error notification

I might have just realised why this happends. This is a part of the code, which is not correct (I think)

If(
    EditForm1.Updates.TijdTotaal <= 8,
    SubmitForm(EditForm1),

This submits the form if the tijdtotaal is less or equal to 8. But isn't this supposed to also check if it adds up to 8 with the last ticket?

So if first ticket is 6 hours and the next one is 6 too, the second ticket should be 2 hours and the third ticket 4 hours. @Mr-Dang-MSFT

Now I can just do this unlimited times, so the code is not right: https://gyazo.com/8a969bdc918146a2a3774e7cfdb012b3

Whenever I fill in 9 hours, I get an error. It puts it to 8 hours but does not patch the other ticket with the other 1 hour.

Yes, please revise the condition. It should check if the hours that are possible to write (the remainder) are less than or equal to 8. If so, then it should simply submit the form.

remainder <= 8

Just came to the conclusion that the code has to be like this @Mr-Dang-MSFT :

  Value(DataCardValue11.Text) <= remainder,

And not like this:

remainder <= 8

The datacardvalue11.text = the time that is being filled in. This needs to be equal to or less than remainder. If its less, then submit. We used to compare the value to equal or less than 8, this is not right.

I changed the second patch function to the first patch code so they're both the same. This is working, it now creates 2 tickets, now we just need to change the second patch function. By this check I know the second patch function is wrong. I have tried many things and this ended up being the solution:

Patch(
            UrenRegistratie,
            Defaults(UrenRegistratie),
            EditForm1.Updates,
            {TijdTotaal: Value(EditForm1.Updates.TijdTotaal) - remainder}
        )

Somehow it thought the value of TijdTotaal was a text value. So I just had to use the Value() operator.

Thank you for you effort and I am glad I could figure it out myself 😀

Hello there @Mr-Dang-MSFT

I want to thank you for helping me out for this project! I appreciate it a lot!

I just figured out the roster for working hours is different on friday. If the date is equal to friday, it should be 7 hours instead of 8 hours. Are you able to assist me adding that to the code? This is the full code that works for 8 hours right now.

Thank you in advance!
