An error occurred on the server

Hello,

We have a few apps connected to an on-premises SQL Server.

  1. This morning the data connections are not functional.
  2. In edit mode we are getting a tooltip "An error occurred on the server".
  • The SQL server is up and running.
  • We have not made any changes.
  • We are using Office 365 license.

I would appreciate some information on the service being down or changes to PowerApps.

Thank you,

Ivo

Re: An error occurred on the server

Hi @BI_Waldom

Maybe try the following:

a) Make sure that the data gateway service is running on the installed server. This can also be checked on the PowerApps portal under Gateways (See below)

2019-01-23_21-20-34.jpgOn premises data gateway status

b) If you have not updated the data gateway in a while, install a new version

c) Try and ping the SQL server hostname (exactly as it used on the connector in PowerApps) from the server where the datagateway is installed.

d) Try to telnet the SQL server (default is port 1433) to make sure that the server on which the gateway is installed can access SQL.

Let me know if you don't come right, there are some logs that can be checked on the data gateway, but first check the above items.

Thank you @Dawidvh,

The issue seems to have resolved by itself.

Nevertheless, you explanations and tips were really clear and useful.

Thank you,
