Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

HI all

I know this is simple but im having a blank moment.

How do i return another field value based on a filter value outside the gallery.

basically the user enters a ref number in one textinputand the other field value is returned

i thought it would be simple!

Course_Registration.course_name.value

regards Gary

Re: Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

Hi @gazzo1967

I was under the impression that this is a text field but since this is a choice type column, the formula need to be modified as:

LookUp(SharePointListName, course_ref = TextInput1.Text).course_name.Value

The way of accessing a Choice type column is a bit different.

Hope this Helps!

Re: Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

@RezaDorrani

Hi

Thanks for responding (again Smiley Happy)

The textinput field (course ref) is the filter input for my gallery.

what i would like is to return another value in my sharepoint list that is a common value against the reference ie course name.

there would be multiple entries of people but the course ref and course name would be linked to each other

eg..

1234 = course 1

2345 = course 2

hopefully that clarifies?

Re: Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

Hi @gazzo1967

Can you share more details about the significance of Gallery in this case?

If you wish to get the result based on a text Input, you can directly use the LookUp formula as:

Label -> Text -> LookUp(SharePointListName, course_name = TextInput1.Text).Value

Here, this will get the result based on text entered in TextInput1. Please replace the highlighted part with the name of column that you want to fetch.

Hope this Helps!

Re: Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

@yashag2255

This does not work unfortunately

Let me try to explain better.

I use a text input for filtering a gallery

the data is called from a sharepoint list

i have the following fields

ID      Title        candidate_name      candidate_no     course_ref    course_name

                         person/group          single text          single Text     Choice

the gallery is being used to return name of candidates who are on a course (i am patching signatures with pen input)

When the course ref is inputted i would like the course_name to show in another label/box but not inside the gallery itself but independant underneath the course ref input box?

There could be multiple candidates on the same course_ref

Re: Help with simple value return based on filter of gallery

HI @gazzo1967 ,

Do you want to display the course name within another Label (outside the Gallery) based on the entered course_ref value?

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:

Set the Text property of the Label control to following:

LookUp('YourSPList', course_ref = CourseRefTextInput.Text, course_name.Value)

or

LookUp('YourSPList', course_ref = CourseRefTextInput.Text).course_name.Value

Please take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

Note: I assume that the entered course_ref value could only match single one course name in your SP List.
