How do I pass in an argument when I create a collection?

I am trying to retrieve some data via an API call. I have successfully created the connector and when I run the test, I see data in the response. Within the app, I was thinking of creating a collection with the api call, but I am having trouble with creating the collection because I can't seem to determine how to pass the parameter in the argument.

On my screen, I have a comboBox, that I am populating with data from the API...this part works just fine. Based on the selected choice in the comboBox, I want to display data related to the choice picked in a Gallery. On the OnVisible property of my screen, I am doing this

ClearCollect(myCollection, APIConnector.GetMyData(myComboBox.Selected.id))

But that doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas on how I can get to pass the id of the value selected in the comboBox to this API call, which will return everything associated with that selection onto my gallery?

Thanks for the help.
