Prevent Exit / Receptionist

We're creating a receptionist app - just a nice welcome screen that allows our visitors to checkin to their meeting, and it sends out notifications through our system. The PowerApp is running on an iPad and we can lock down the iPad to the single application, but is there a way to tell the PowerApps player to not allow our PowerApp to exit?

Maybe something like only allowing us to open an App when we open the player, then it is locked there until the player is restarted, and because the player is locked at the iPad app level, only an admin would be able to change it.

Thanks.

Re: Prevent Exit / Receptionist

Hi,

Our players don't currenty support kiosk mode. This is a nice idea you might want to add to PowerAppsIdeas.

But may I suggest a workaround: if you're using an iPad, you can selective block areas of the screen. For exiting the app, user needs to slide from left to right. You might just block a couple of pixels in the left of screen and that should work.

This, to be precise: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT202612

Just tested. It works, although leaves the disabled area shaded.

Is there a way to do this on android?

Re: Prevent Exit / Receptionist

I don't know any. Android varies a lot on how to do stuff depending on the manufacturer. But since some Android devices has a "Kids mode" it's likely there's a way to do so.

Keep in mind this may not be a supported scenario on PowerApps.

Re: Prevent Exit / Receptionist

Hi @Velluto,

Powerapps Team just released this new function last month. Please take a look at the new ConfirmExit action now available on canvas apps.  Also found in the docs is the information for the new property.

Cheers

Re: Prevent Exit / Receptionist

Hi @EMARIN91,

As of now I don't think there's a way to disable swiping left to right but you can try reading the new ConfirmExit action of PowerApps.

Cheers
