data cards not saving when rearranged

Hi everyone,

I have an editable form based off of columns in a SharePoint List. I wanted to rearrange my form, so I unlocked my data cards, moved them, and hit save. Everything appeared okay, however when I go into the app for use, my data cards show up in the original order and not my rearranged order.

The screenshot on the left is the correct order of my fields showing in edit mode, and on the right is the order it reverts back to in the app when opened.

PowerApps_EditForm.PNGEdit mode (correct data card order)PowerApps_EditQuestion.PNGApp view (incorrect data card order)

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be happening?

Thanks so much in advance for your help! Smiley Happy

Link above is a related issue that is marked as solved. I followed the advise in that post and it worked for me for a long time.

I also have another form that uses dynamic spacing, as there are a lot of form controls that show and hide based on toggles.

For these, I use something along the lines of:

DataCard2.Y=DataCard1.Y+DataCard1.Height

DataCard3.Y=DataCard2.Y+DataCard2.Height

this worked for a long time until this week. I opened my app on Monday, and the toggled datacards, when visible, show up in an overlapping stack. I added a textbox to view their Height & Y values, and they all have the same Y! This behavior was only present in the browser play app mode. Mobile and editor preview continued to display correctly.

So I changed the Y values to be based on the last non-toggled datacard's Y:

DC2.Y=DC1.Y+DC1.Height

DC3.Y=DC1.Y+DC1.Height+DC2.Height

...

This worked in preview and browser, but is broken in mobile > one card is reordering itself.

So I tried the fixed values method that I used on my first form. This didn't work at all for form 2, though form 1 is still performing correctly. Form fields are all rearranged in form 2.

I'm not sure what other recourse I have. Option 1 (y based on y+ht of data card above) should be the optimal route, and could be fixed by exposing z-values (checking in dev mode on Chrome, the datacards all have different z positions, which is why they overlap).

Option 2 should be working without issue. That's gotta be a bug.

Option 3 is also a bug, and is the issue addressed in OP.

Re: data cards not saving when rearranged

Hi Kristen,

I have just tested with my data cards in PowerApps and at first, I got the same result like yours. The change won't show in web page. But then I tested again and I made sure that the app is definitely finished saving my changes of the data card, (close the current app and open a new one, then reopen this one) I then see all the data cards are in the correct order I just arranged.

Please make sure that your app is completely saved before you try to use it. If the issue still persist, please tell us that where did you edit the app and where did you reopen it.

Regards,

Mona

Re: data cards not saving when rearranged

Hi @v-monli-msft,

So sorry for the delay, I was traveling for some business meetings last week.

I tried what you suggested to ensure the app was fully saved prior to using it. I am still having the same issue with my data cards not saving.

I am updating my app on the "web preview" and after I moved my data cards I made sure I saved everything and waited to ensure the save was succesful. I then opened the app using Dynamics and saw my data cards reverted back to their original sequence.

I'm not sure if I am missing a step - I do have data cards that are hidden, do they need to be unlocked as well for the changes to save?

Thanks,

Kristen
