"This app isn't opening correctly"

My app launches OK if you launch it from within PowerApps, and if I send myself the share link, I can launch that on my laptop.  When I try to open the link on my phone, I get a "This app isn't opening correctly" "This app didn't install correctly. Please try again."

Any ideas?

Two things to check.

1) Did you write the App as a Mobile App or a Tablet App? If you are trying to open a Tablet App on the mobile client it may have problems due to the different resolution etc.

2) Are you opening it on the phone using the Mobile App or just a link?

Can you provide a bit more informatoin about the construction of the app itself and exactly how you are trying to open it on the phone.

Hi @russrimm ,

Could you please share a bit more about the error message that you mentioned?

Could you please show more details about the share link that you mentioned? Is it the App Url of a specific app?

How do you launch the app within your Mobile device? Using Launch function or open the App Url directly within your Mobile device browser?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

1. If you use the Launch function to launch your app:

Please check if you have typed a proper App URL within the Launch functon. The standard formula format as below:

Launch("https://web.powerapps.com/apps/e164446b-3f71-43d8-8f6c-fe35179b6d5e", "Param1", "Value1", "Param2", "Value2", ...)

Note: The "https://web.powerapps.com/apps/e164446b-3f71-43d8-8f6c-fe35179b6d5e" represents the App Url of your app. You could not append parameters to the App Url within the Launch function, the following formula is wrong:

Launch("https://web.powerapps.com/apps/e164446b-3f71-43d8-8f6c-fe35179b6d5e?Param1=" & TextInput1.Text) /* <-- Wrong formula */

2. If you open the App share link directly within your Mobile device's browser:

Please consider clear cache of your browser in your Mobile device, and then run the App Share link again, then provide your proper credentails to access this app, check if the issue is solved.

In addition, if you run your app using the PowerApps Mobile App in your Mobile device, please check if the version of the PowerApps Mobile App is the latest version in your Mobile device. If not, please consider upgrade it to the latest version, then try your app again, check if the issue is solved.

Also please consider uninstall PowerApps Mobile App from your mobile device, and then re-install it again, check if the issue is solved.

I wrote it as a mobile app.

I can open the app by going through the PowerApps app to get to it.  But i wanted to test what happens if I send someone the link to open it.  Is the link not meant to open it on mobile devices - is it for PC browsers only?

The link is

https://web.powerapps.com/apps/a02468f0-2fbb-4c61-b2f9-58c7866b9bbf.  If I open Powerapps and open my app that works fine.  I was just wanting to see what happens if I send someone the link to open it and they open it on their phone.  Is the link not meant to be used this way?

Ahhh so tapping the link in the email I sent to myself doesn't work.

Copying the URL and pasting it into the Safari browser works.

Interesting...

Hi @russrimm ,

The App Url link is used to open an app within a web browser. If you open the App Url Link within your Mobile device, it would open your Mobile device's browser to run your app.

In addition, the end users want to run your app through this App Url, they must have enough permission to access this app. In other words, you could not share this App Url to external users outside your Org.

Actually, if the end users do not have access permission to your app, when you share the App Url link to them, they could not run/open your app through this App Url link. As an alternative solution, you could share this app to your end users directly within your PowerApps.

More details about sharing an app, please check the following article:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/share-app

The users do have access to run the app as they're part of the org.  I just hoped that emailing them the link would cause them to either be prompted to install PowerApps and then PowerApps would open the app, or it would open in a phone browser, or if they already have PowerApps installed, it would launch it for them so they wouldnt have to open PowerApps and search for the app.
So the only way it seems to work is if you click to copy the link, open a browser on the phone and then paste it into it.  I figured tapping the link (which opens the browser and pastes it and goes) would be the same thing.  I guess not :(.

Hi @russrimm ,

When you directly clicking the App Url link outside the PowerApps Mobile App, it would only open a browser to open/run this app, it would not run the correspoding app within your PowerApps Mobile App.

If you want to launch the App within PowerApps Mobile App, you need to use Launch function within another app to launch the specific app. More details about the Launch function, please check my first reply above.

What is the default browser on you phone?  If you click other links in email do they open in Safari or a different browser?  It may be a browser issue.  I use Edge as the default browser on my iPhone and mobile app weblinks open just fine from email. Check your default browser settings.
