CrmServiceClient Class vs OrganizationServiceProxy Class Connections

Hi All,

I can connect my console application both with CrmServiceClient (by Microsoft.Xrm.Tooling nuGet lib) and with OrganizationServiceProxy Class (by Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk nuGet lib) to CDS for App.

By OrganizationServiceProxy:

By CrmServiceClient:

I don't understand what the pros and cons of the two methods are.

Could someone explain the difference well to me, please?

Unfortunately these posts are not clear to me:

- this post uses both connections without clarifying what happens without one of two:

- this post doesn't summarize well the pros and cons:

- the current MS docs doesn't explain well the differences.

I'd like to hear your experience and advice from a good connector...

Thanks in advance,

Re: CrmServiceClient Class vs OrganizationServiceProxy Class Connections

There are several internal differences, but the most important consideration is that CrmServiceClient is newer and designed to work with several authentication options, while OrganizationServiceProxy is tied to the WS-Trust authentication. The practical consequence of this is that Microsoft are recommending using CrmServiceClient, whereas OrganizationServiceProxy may get deprecated at some point in the future

Re: CrmServiceClient Class vs OrganizationServiceProxy Class Connections

Hi David Jennaway

So summarize, If I use:

I'm using a REST connection, correct?

Intestead, If I use:

  • Auth user based with a CDS non-intercative user (username + pwd)
  • API Web Instance target URL
  • Wrapper IOrganizationService CRUD operations like: Create(), Update(), Delete() etc..

I'm using SOAP connection, correct?

Thank you in advance,
