Flow data from CDS to SQL Server

Hi there!

I am new to the Power Platform. I have a business requirement to flow data in CDS to a SQL Sever database. I need to know the possible options and which is the best way to flow bulk data from CDS to SQL Server. It would be great if the data flow could be scheduled as well.

Please advise!

Re: Flow data from CDS to SQL Server

HI @muhammadanas ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to sync data from CDS Entity to your SQL Table in a specific schedule?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think MS Flow (Microsoft Flow) is a better choice for your scenario. I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:

On your side, please consider configure your flow as below:14.JPG

Within the "Condition" action, left input box set to following:

empty(body('Filter_array'))

right input box set to following formula:

true

middle operator box set to is equal to.

Within the "Update row" action, set the Row id field to following formula:

item()?['ItemInternalId']

More details about using expression in flow actions, please check the following blog:

https://flow.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/use-expressions-in-actions/

In addition, I think the Data Integration project in PowerApps could also help achieve your needs. On your side, you could consider create a Data Integration project within your PowerApps Admin Center, to sync data from your CDS Entity to your SQL Table.

More details about creating a Data Integration project in PowerApps, please check the following article:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/data-integrator

You could also specify a Schedule within a Data Integration project as below:13.JPG

Please consider take a try with above solutions, then check if the issue is solved.

Re: Flow data from CDS to SQL Server

Hi @v-xida-msft ,

First of all thanks a lot for your detailed response. I really appreciate the details!

Regarding Data Integration Project, I know it can be used to bring data to CDS. However can you confirm it can also be used to flow data from CDS to SQL Server?

I am interested in Data Integration Project option as it looks better for bulk data flow.

Re: Flow data from CDS to SQL Server

Hi @muhammadanas ,

Yeah, you are right. Currently, the "CDS To SQL Server" template is not supported within Data Integration Project in PowerApps currently.

I afraid there is no way to sync data from CDS Entity to SQL Table directly using Data Integration Project in PowerApps.

As an alternative solution, I think Microsoft Flow could achieve your needs. Please consider take a try with above flow configuration I provided, then check if the solution is helpful in your scenario.

Re: Flow data from CDS to SQL Server

If your SQL Database is in Azure (either via SQL Azure, or on an Azure VM running SQL Server), then you could use the Data Export Service
