Free Data source which comes with Office 365 E5 license

What data sources can we use with Power Apps O365 E5 license that will not require us to pay any additional amount? I am trying to create an application which could be shared across other colleagues in the organization who has the same O365 E5 license, by using a common data source which is free and compatible with this suite.

Re: Free Data source which comes with Office 365 E5 license

Anything that uses the Common Data Service requires a premium license.  But with an Office 365 E5 license you can create apps that use SharePoint lists or Excel Files stored in SharePoint or OneDrive for data storage without any additional licensing.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Using Power Apps O365 E5 license, you could connect to cloud services using standard connectors.

There are many standard connectors that you could use. Here's a doc about all the standard connectors for your reference:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/

The common standard connectors are:5242.png

Here's doc about PowerApps of Office 365 E5 license for your reference:

@v-yutliu-msft

@Anonymous said they were looking for a "free" connector.  All of the CDS connectors are Premium not standard.  They all require additional licensing. You'll see that marked clearly on the connector if you try to add it. Your reply implies that the CDS connector is standard and can be used iwth an E5 license for free.  That simply isn't true.

Re: Free Data source which comes with Office 365 E5 license

Thank you @v-yutliu-msft  & @Pstork1 for your reply on this question.

I agree with @Pstork1, when i tried with standard connector it asked me to either purchase it or use the trial version of Plan 2. So I am assuming it is not free.

I was wondering if i could use Access for free?

Re: Free Data source which comes with Office 365 E5 license

I'm not aware of a connector for Access, but there are several other connectors to data sources that are standard.  The common ones include storing your data in an Excel Spreadsheet in OneDrive/SharePoint, in a SharePoint List, or in a SQL server (usually in Azure).

Hi @Anonymous ,

Sorry, I forgot to exclude CDS from the list I listed.

Other connectors that I listed should be available for free.

Re: Free Data source which comes with Office 365 E5 license

Dear All,

At first apologies for replying late to this thread. We were working on the paid P1 license and this requirement got diminished.

Nevertheless, I am here again with the same issue and looking forward for your suggestions on the below issue.

We have Office 365 E5 license and we can see PowerApps for Office 365 under our subscriptions. As I understand from earlier post, I can use free data sources like One Drive for business etc. I did create an app with source as One Drive. When this app was shared to one of my colleague with Office 365 E5 license, he got the below error message

PowerApps-TrialPeriod-error.png

I did check in admin office 365 portal and he has access to this PowerApps plan.

Thanks,

BidyutG

What other connectors are in your app besides OneDrive?

Nothing.

I have just an excel on one drive which is the data source of this App. This app was created just to test connectivity.
