Get Data from Access Database results in OLEDB 12.0 error

Hi all,

I'm trying to connect to an Access Database stored in my OneDrive. When i choose the location and click next I get the following error:

An exception occurred: DataSource.NotFound: Microsoft Access: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine 2010 Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987. (Session ID: 38ca8398-fc80-4641-bc38-f4a4f828cd43)

I have triple checked to make sure the Database engine is installed (I reinstalled it a couple times just to be sure) but I don't understand how this is relevant as the data is not coming from my machine anyway (OneDrive).

If CDS doesn't like Access Databases from OneDrive is there another, easier way to get that data into CDS?

Thanks

Re: Get Data from Access Database results in OLEDB 12.0 error

Hi @Dave_Temby ,

Do you want to connect to the Access Database stored in your OneDrive folder from your canvas app?

If you want to connect to the Access Database stored in your OneDrive folder from your canvas app, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

As an alternative solution, I think the "Power Query" functionality in CDS could achieve your needs. You could consider sync data from your Access Database to CDS Entity using Power Query functionality:

Go to your PowerApps Web Portal, select "Entities" option under Data tab, then click "Get Data"-> "Get Data" option to launch Power Query, then select the Access database as above. Then you need to configure the connection to your Access database stored in your OneDrive folder:

More details about Power Query in CDS, please check the following article:

Re: Get Data from Access Database results in OLEDB 12.0 error

Hi @Dave_Temby

I suggest one of these options:

1 Save the tables as Excel, use power query feature to clean them up and import as CDS entities. This will work best if the target entities have the exact name fields as the Excel ones.
2 convert to Sql and use Sql connector
3 convert to SharePoint and use SharePoint connector.
