How to enable attachment foe existing Entity

Hi all,

When we create new entity, there is an option to enable attachment like below:

Capture.PNG

How to enable it for existing entity ?

And where actually this attachment reside in our CDS ? If lets say we attach a document file (doc/xls) or image file, can we see it when use that entity's View ?

Thanks,

W

Re: How to enable attachment foe existing Entity

Hi @WWwong

You need to open the relevant entity from CDS, click settings and then click enable attachments.

See the screenshot below:

Attachments are stored in a separate entity called 'notes' where each file is store and references the original entity you uploaded it to. If you use a form in powerapps then in will pull these files using the .attachments reference.

Re: How to enable attachment foe existing Entity

To supplement on the previous post, the attachments are stored on Note called annotation. You can fetch them as well with the API:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/common-data-service/reference/entities/annotati...

And ActivityMimeAttachment are where email attachments are stored: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/common-data-service/reference/entities/activity...

And to answer your last question, no unfortunately you can't see in an entity view (model-driven app). You'll have to open the form to download the attachment.

Hope this helps!
