intermintent issue getting lookup field value ids in embedded Canvas App

OK I am working with the following entities

1. Accounts

2. Cases

3. Case Parties (custom entity): this is the middle table for Accounts and Cases, we have a related accounts and realted cases lookup fields on this entity.

ClearCollect(
    colCaseParties,
    Filter(
        'Case Parties',
        xxx_RelatedCaseId.incidentid = GUID(_caseid)
    )
);
ClearCollect(
        colCPAccs,
        Filter(
            colCaseParties,
            Not(IsBlank(xxx_RelatedAccountId.accountid))
        )
   );

the 2nd collection, sometimes it gets records back but sometimes it's empty.

 

The behaviour I have seen so far are

1. If I switch off the following Preview Features "Relational data, option sets, and other new features for CDS" and "Improve data source experience and Common Data Service views" from the App settings, it would appear to work fine.

2. if I switch off "Improve data source experience and Common Data Service views" from the App Settings, it also seems to work fine.

3. When I have both preview features switched on, the results becomes intermitent.

I add a gallery to the same screen and set the 1st collection as the datasource for this gallery, and add a label in the gallery with TEXT set to "ThisItem.'Related Account'.'Account Name'". Since, it has been working everytime so far.

 

I don't know if this is just coincidence or what, but could anyone shed some light on this please?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

 

Please consider modify your formula as below:

Concurrent(
            ClearCollect(colCaseParties, Filter('Case Parties', xxx_RelatedCaseId.incidentid = GUID(_caseid))),
ClearCollect(colCPAccs, Filter(colCaseParties, !IsBlank(xxx_RelatedAccountId.accountid))) )

Please take a try with above solution, check if the issue is solved.

 

Also please consider re-generate a new app based on your Case Parties Entity, then check if the issue is solved.

Thanks for your response.

Like I said the results is intermittent.

With your suggests, is that with the Preview Feature "Imporve data source experience and Common Data Service views" set to on or off?

Because what I have seen so far is if this feature is on, then it works intermittently, but if it's off then it works...

Could you confirm that please?
