Reading file contents from Sharepoint

Hi I'm trying to get flow to read word documents (and outlook messages) stored in a document library on sharepoint and export the content to a list on sharepoint.

The files will be between 1/2 pages long with limited formatting - which can get lost without an issue.

The flow appears to struggle exporting the outputs, both in that the output is too long (as expressed in the error message when the flow is reviewed) but also in that the flow is clearly not reading the text property, and where it does export anything it's a garblled mess.

I've tried this with a normal txt file and it works prefectly, so I presume that the issue is with the reading of microsoft's file formats - something that surprises me given that it microsoft's flow!

Any ideas on the capabilties or restrictions on the sharepoint read file content function (and any links to documentation of this or any other functions as I've tried and failed to find any).

Kind regards

Re: Reading file contents from Sharepoint

Hi Ben,

May I know the detailed information of your flow? How did you export the content to list?

Re: Reading file contents from Sharepoint

Hi Mona,

There isn't much detail to provide, I simply linked up sharepoint online and using the basic connectors in flow selected it to run when a file is added to a document library and then the sharepoint action item to add an item to a list, using the dynamic content, "File content" from the document library stage to populate the description in the list.

Kind regards
