We are currently using a customized app in SharePoint Online. The app is a button that enables the end user to Post a document (within a document library) or a List item to Yammer. The app pulls out values from custom made SharePoint columns (i.e. Country, Product etc) and converts them to Yammer tags. It enables the user to fill in a comment (message body in Yammer), eventually a Yammer post will be performed in a specific group, and it will contain the URL to the document or list item, tags and comments.
Unfortunately, after Microsoft rolled out the new document library experience, the customized app no longer works. We are looking for an alternative solution, maybe based on Flow. We would like to minimize the number of actions required to post the message.
Does anyone have an idea how Flow Preview can help us here?
Thanks a lot.
I created a simple flow to post a Yammer message when a new file was created. In the action “Post message”, I filled a “#” tag in Message Text body. When the message was posted, tags were also shown in Yammer. Below is a screenshot of my flow. I hope it can be a reference for you.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I might be mistaking, but this will not automatically convert SharePoint Online columns to Yammer (hash) tags?
For your understanding, I have looked up a user guide where the custom solution was explained. As you can see below, the files in the document library have some custom columns (i.e. Product and Country).
In the screenshot, the file above the blue selected one, is being shared to Yammer.
We would like to provide a solution where:
a.) the user can fill in a comment (Yammer message body)
b.) the SharePoint columns of the respective file are automatically being added as Yammer (hash) tags
I hope I have clarified this better now.
