Create/authenticate a connector on a button click?

Hello all,

I added a Trello (for example) connector and built an app on top of it. The problem is, we need to share/publish the app to multiple clients now, and obviously, they do not want to share their Trello (for example) login credentials. How can I add a Trello (for example) authentication or a login screen in PowerApp? Is it possible to do this in first place?

Thanks in advance!

Hrishi

Re: Create/authenticate a connector on a button click?

Hi Hrishi,

When you share your app to clients, your clients don’t need to share their login credentials of the connector.

They just need to create a connection to the connector using their own credentials the first time they open the app, their login information won’t appear on others side. So it would be safe for them to create the connection using their own credentials.

Please take this documentation for a reference:

Re: Create/authenticate a connector on a button click?

Hi Mabel,

Thank you for your reply!

I checked the link you shared in your reply. But, I don't find any Manage option in the left menu. Also, I checked the details screen for all connections I have, and there is no way to manage the sharing. How can I configure sharing? All I want is, the end user should login into Trello (for example) before the app starts.

Thanks and regards,

Hrishi

Re: Create/authenticate a connector on a button click?

Hi Mabel,

We make a third party connector (The Muhimbi PDF Converter) and are experiencing the same issue with our PowerApp customers. It is a terrible end-user experience having to provide login details for all connectors, especially when there is only a single company account (We license per company, not per user).

If it is not already there (To be honest, I am not a PowerApps expert, and the link you provided hints at this not being possible at the moment) , is a feature planned to allow credentials for 3rd part connectors to be embedded / saved inside the App in a way similar to how SQL Server connections are shared automatically?

I wasn't able to find any reference in the PowerApps Ideas page, but perhaps I didn't search for the correct keywords (there were 48 pages of results :-)

Re: Create/authenticate a connector on a button click?

Hi Mabel,

OK. I somehow managed to see Trello login screen on my colleague's desktop when I shared the PowerApp with him. But, when he logged in with his Trello credentials in the pop-up, it aksed him to 'Allow' the connection. He allowed it, and was redirected to PowerApps site inside the popup. Now, how will he grant permission to use his Trello account? There is no way to allow. Is this a bug?

Regards,

Hrishi
